This is the wake from a 2000 Chappy 205Se with a monster tower, 400lbs in the front cuddy, and 4 guys in the boat.

i wish i had towers and some fatsacs, looks pretty decent, brad, not everyones parents has 2 wakeboats... way to be an ass

the right wake seems a little rampier, is your i/o similar where if you turn a little bit one way it makes that wake cleaner/rampier?

i wasnt trying to be an ass. i'm just used to having about 3000 lbs of ballast in the boat & a wake up to my waist. it does look like his wake has a snappy look to it instead of rounded peak.

and for the record, i dont own two wakeboats, i just have rich friends. haha

At the moment that wake doesn't look awesome, but it has potential. I've ridden behind a '97 190hp Monterey (i/o) for 10 years, and by now have kind of figured out how to get a good wake out of it. Get a lot of fat sacs, I put close to 2000 lbs in my boat (and i'm guessing my boat is smaller since yours is a 205). I put 700#s up front, 400 in the locker, and another 550 on top of the locker but more towards the back. Then trim up about a 1/4 - 1/3 of the way and dial in that wake, you'll be amazed brotha. Don't let people get down on your boat, i bet you'll be better than most the people with wakeboard boats soon anyway. Good luck, and remember that the main thing is to have a good time!

If I had to I'd ride behind a bass boat. Looks like you have it about as good as your going to get it!

To be honest I am not to happy with this pic. I think the wake cleans up a lot better. I am on lake erie in Buffalo NY and we deal with some crappy water. I am planning on snapping some new pics soon and I will repost to get some more feed back. We have been working on improve the wake forever. Added 4blade prop, fatsac+400lbs of sand up front.
thanks for the feedback.

sounds like a good start. put around half of whatever weight you put in the back up front (i.e. 1000 back/500 front)

I'm with Travis. You can progress a lot behind your boat, I wouldn't worry about it. I put close to 1000lbs of ballast in my I/O and put the trim up a 1/4 of the way and it puts up a nice wake. My nephew can pull off back rolls, front rolls, 360 w2w on a 70' line. Technique is almost everything.

Gotta love guys that bash others rides, when they are bumming rides from buddies. I'd rather board behind a POS, then not have a boat at all. I'd hate it if I had to depend on friends for pulls.

Actually, he did not say he was sorry. He said he was "not trying" to be an ass. That is not the same as an apology. An apology would be a good move on his part.

This happens all the time, somebody new to WakeWorld comes on and posts a mean-spirited attack on somebody they don't know. Please do not act like Brad is the victim here. Brad drew first blood, perhaps he did not realize that there are lots of bored folks on WakeWorld with photoshop skills and time on their hands. We've seen this plenty of times. Sometimes the public spanking will cease after a true apology and making of amends, but as noted, we haven't heard that yet.

Jeff, don't worry about it, get your ride on and have fun, buddy. My first invert was behind a Chapparal 23' with no extended pylon and no extra weight. Work on your edging and your fundamentals, make sure you ride switch as much as you can and learn your toeside jumps. I've been wakeboarding since it was invented, skiing since I was 6. I'd rather ride behind an i/o or even an outboard wake with somebody cool who is having fun, rather than riding a slammed wakeboat with somebody who is obnoxious and doesn't get what it's really about, and I've done plenty of both to know the difference.

Here's my 17 ft Glastron with two fat sacs (one in ski locker, one behind the rear bench, plus my wife and daughter in boat. Would prefer a wakeboat, but our local lake only allows boats with outboards.

Forget the advice of putting "half up front as you do in the back" while that is good advice on wakeboats I/O's do well with front weight.

Looks pretty good, and I would ride it.

Has anyone ever seen a "waist high wake"? I sure would like to see it.....
Old     (sandman59)      Join Date: Aug 2002       07-23-2007, 8:05 PM Reply
Brett,

The lake is privately owned and it has more to do with tradition than sound reasoning. I ask every spring, but so far no change to the policy. I could drive to other lakes (live less than 5 minutes from this lake) but many times when we are boating in the evening, we are the only boat out there.

Everyone in the area knows the policy so if you want to boat here, you buy an outboard. Visitors with i/o's or inboards that come in not knowing the rules are usually turned away.

So I/O's Do Better With More Weight In The Front ?
Old     (zburns)      Join Date: Mar 2007       07-24-2007, 8:14 AM Reply
Yes we have a I/O's an our promblem is we can't get enough weight in the front. We have two rear fat sacs in the back and one in the ski locker. But the wake will get a lot cleaner and bigger with the more weight we get in the front. The only problem is that people want to sit in the back of the boat so they can watch the rides instead of the front. I would not follow the 60/40 for I/O's you really just have to find what works best .Also the more weight in the back makes the boat hard to control
Old     (forenku)      Join Date: May 2007       07-24-2007, 8:46 AM Reply
I agree with Zach, more weight in the front will really help. All boats are different, move the weight around to find what works best for your boat.

Another classic WakeWorld tactic: say something infammatory and provocative, then act like it should have obviously been "a joke" and act like OTHER people were in the wrong and lacking a sense of humor. LAME!!!

Dude, read your original post. There was nothing joking about that, and it's silly for you to suggest that it should have been taken with humor. You could end this easily, but you still choose not to. Still no owning what you did. Still no ability to take an honest look at yourself. You're 19, stop acting like a middle-school girl. Be a man.

Rick,
I got a 98 180 Horizon Four Winns and can seem to get a little larger wake than that pic shows. What do you have your trim set at? Weight? The bright might washing out the pic a little. We ride a 65' rope, trim up 1/4 from full down and 22-24 mph. Seems to be the only way we can get the wake to firm up. Give it a try.

That sucks Brad, sorry to hear that. I don't think anyone is happy to hear that you broke your ankle because it can happen to anyone even us with our small wakes. My nephew broke his ankle early in the season and was only out for 5 weeks and was out riding again with no problems.
