Got my fat sacs a few days ago and got a chance today to hit the water and try them out. Just me and the kids so no riding, but wanted to see how the wake reacted to the weight. First pic is with no weight and just enough trim to clean up the washout. Pretty crappy.

Then I tried just 2 250 sacs up front, not much diff. Filled up the 2 400 pound sacs in the rear and couldnt keep the thing on plane when trimmed up.

the last pic is with 2 400 pounders up front and the 2 250's in the rear.

What do you all think?

It was a little windy. Boat is Cobalt 206 with 5.7 duoprop. I didnt think it was too bad for an I/O. Too bad I have to wait til next spring to ride again.

The last one looks pretty good. It seems like the general consensus with I/O's is that they work better when weighting the bow more heavily than the stern.

^^^^Agreed

I read that the distribution was 60/40, but wasnt sure if the 60 was front or rear. Def works better with the 800 up front and the 500 in the rear.

Try the 2 400's up front and one 250 in the back...maybe not even filled all the way up. Then trim up a little after you plain to clean up the wake.

How fast?

21mph, right where I ride. I can only get weight on either side of the engine, thats where I have the 250's. Plan to install an auto fill/drain system over the winter. I can always just add a little to the rears. Def gonna take more fine tuning. Have to finalize my install plan first, which is driving me nuts. lol

Bill, 60 front 40 back is what you want. Nice wake in that second pic.

I dont agree with the 60/40 for in i/o

I have about 900 in the front about 400 in the center and about 300 in the rear. I trim up and its clean.

I also run at about 24-25.5

My I/O loves weight in the front.
We run 2 350 lb sacs (one in the locker and one in the bow.) I just got a 750lb sac that I'm going to run next year and put that in the locker and move the 350 locker to the rear and see how it likes it.
This pic is with 700lbs (350 bow and 350 mid-locker) at 23mph trim up 1/2
Right side is a little washy, but we are correcting that next year...
Perfect pass is getting put in this week!! yay

on my old i/o I always had 150lbs on each side of the bow a 350 locker sac in the walkway and 150lbs on either side of the engine so the majority of the weight was towards the front and it always threw a nice rampy wake

On my I/O I put the 1,000 lb triangle fat sack in the bow, 300 lbs of sand bags in the locker and trim it up a couple taps and the wake is 10 times better than what it used to be. Now its big and clean. I am going to try to put some more weight in the back in the future to even it out but with I/O i think more weight up front helps it plane out faster and makes a better wake.

Yeah, We are correcting that next season :-) One person driving and no counter weight seems to do that lol
