I have a friend that wants to buy a X-80. I told him to buy a smaller boat like a 23ft or so but he really wants this huge boat. Has any one drove or rode behind one of these monsters? How is the wake?

He would be happier with my X-45. :-)

Is he a good boarder, or a weekend warrior?

Weekender= fine
Serious boarder= might want to look further.

I hear you have to pull faster to get a clean wake out of the beast.. (oh year, 2 engines too!) TWICE THE FUEL!!!

Yeah fuel will not be fun. I've heard the wake isn't exactly fantastic, and that you have to go around 26 mph for it to even clean up. Get a regular X-Star if he is stoked on Mastercraft, but if he is open, get him to look at a Supra 24SSV. Big boat that holds 2 less people than the X-80, but with a fantasticly shaped wake and much less fuel consumption.

u have to go fairly fast like 26-27 to get a clean wake out of it, its definantly not as roomy as the 45, but the wake surf wake is huggeee, its rediculous

You don't buy an X80 and worry about fuel costs, unless your an idiot that can't really afford the boat. That said, an 80 with twin MCXs will probably be comparable to a 45 with a big block. It will have to work less to produce the same results. I have a twin engine boat and it actually doesn't do to bad on gas unless we are running top end around the lake.

Yea money is not a issue for him. He is just starting and will use the boat more for taking out family and friends but he really wants something his kids can learn to wakeboard behind and probably surf. I am going to try and talk him into driving some different models. He lives on a smaller private lake and I think the x-80 is just to much boat. Thanks for all the comments and I will let him know about your x-45 Mike it looks like a sweet boat. Thanks, Nick

I need to know how many people have friends where money is no object to them? I have yet to find anyone, but I'd sure like to be their friend!

Guess this area just doesn't breed millionaires very well.

I just sold my X-80 and it really was just too big for most lakes, you don't have to run 26-27 though as we ran ours around 22.5-23.5 and had a very clean wake. It does put out a big wake but drinks the fuel to do so. Has tons of room and give a great ride but I sold mine for a reason. Is he dead set on MC? I have a Tige 24Ve, '07 and I have priced it $10K under book or anything comparable. Want to know more on the X-80, pm me.

I ride behind an x-45 and it is a monster. I have a sanger v215, and it really took me a while to get used to the x-45 wake. The boat is wider, so I had to start riding at a shorter length.

when my buddy sets up the x45 for surfing though the wake is amazing.
