My local dealer has finally received the new X-2. Mine will be in shortly. Everyone should see them popping up all over now if I am in Alberta and there already arriving way up here!! I will try to get some pics of the different color schemes.

you better get out there and break it in before the water freezes up there. i know i would want to ride behind it the first day the ice melted if i lived in the arctic like you. :-)

Seen one at the INT nat. Looks good!! I like it better then the star! Looks like it has as much room inside as the X-star too, just a shorter bow!! If I was buyin a MC, that would be the one I would get!

Hook it up Joe. I wanna check out that wake.

Mike, c'mon..... the best way to break your boat in is with a few thousand pounds of ballast. I made sure I put an hour on mine before I sacked it. (maybe it was 1.5)

When I get home from Parker it will have a few hours on it . Well break it in ridin lol !!!

Modern four stroke motors do not need an elaborate break in period.

That motor has already been through the most excruciating several minutes of it's life, on the dyno before it was installed in the boat.

William, do you have the picture of your navy and khaki boat from the color configurator at the dealer? I like the sound of that boat and can't wait to see these X2s when they start coming in.

Just got the new X-2!! The boat looks great and has a ton of room. Can't wait to see the wake!!!
Come down and have a look for yourself at Cope & McPhetres Marine in Renton, WA.

maybe im wrong, but i thought it voided the warranty if you take the tach over certain rpms before breaking it in.

That may be the sweetest looking boat I have ever seen. I would take that over tribal crap any day....and I have an X series boat that I love!

Absolutely awesome, I am betting that the new X2 becomes a huge success.

robert, more than the x1? i guess......maybe. I personally hate the xstar wake myself, and I get the feeling this is a baby xstar in more ways than one. Im still sold on the x-1, pickle fork noses do nothing for me.....

Mike,

More than the X1....if you take the wake away absolutely. I love the look of the picklefork, and it is very user friendly. From the pictures, there is a lot more room inside the new X2 than the X1, even though it is shorter. I personally think it looks and seems to be superior in every way other than the wake.

When it comes to the wake...I just have no idea. I have been behind an Xstar, but not an X1. Therefore, cant comment.

The fact that the new X2 can fit into a normal sized garage is going to be a huge selling point too I think.

I cant wait to see what the consensus is on the wake.

Hopefully, a dealer or somebody will take an hour and go to a dealer with both an 06 X1 and X2 and do a point by point comparison from a showroom on size, comfort, storage, etc.

How they ride in rough water remains to be seen as well.

Still, the new X2 seems to be a perfect family boat for those that need something that will fit into a 22' garage.

As far as looks, I love the color scheme and the new look of THIS X2. Some of the others, including the X1 and X7 leave a little to be desired. But, this one just looks tough.

My opinions only, based on pictures through the internet. I have not put butt to vinyl yet.

I don't understand what Mastercraft is doing with their boat names and numbers. Why couldn't they have called this new boat the X-1 and left the X-2 alone? It makes more since to me! The new boat looks really cool and I think they are going to be everywhere. But for me, the old X-2/old X-Star/New X-1 will always produce a great wake and has plenty of room for our 3 to 5 person crew. I love my 2003 X-2!!!

That is a sick looking boat, can't wait to see the wake. I just sold my SAN and will hopefully be buying another boat next year, this may be it.

One thing I don't understand is why CC and MC don't offer any more ballast. It would be cool if it came with 2000lbs stock ballast.
Maybe boat builders like Epic will force the big three to offer more factory ballast.

robert, good points, especially the thing about the garage. It seems to you the comparison is xstar to x2, and to me it is x1 (or old x2/old xstar) compared to new x2. Ive been inside both boats at my local shop and I agree the x2 is just a bit roomier, but its also more expensive am I wrong?

All things aside, for 55-60 grand I better get the wake im looking for out of it, which I know I would get out of a x1 loaded out.

Does anyone know when the new color configurator will be on Mastercraft's website? I want to try out some different color combinations for the new X2. Keep the pictures coming.

Mike, if you throw the whole money thing into it....the X1 is the ultimate! No doubt.

Truth is that both are wakeboard boats, you don't need room for 10 most of the time. When we ride, its usually 3 people.

I would like to see some pictures of an X1 with the same graphics package as the X2 above. The ones I have seen just seem to be missing something. I don't know what it was. The X7 that the local dealer has is the same way. It just doesn't seem to look as good as the X2...I think a lot of it is the perceived depth of the larger boats. The ski boat oriented MCs like the X7 and X9 just don't look as good with the bold graphics as the larger rides.

I am just stoked that MC came out with something totally different this year. A 20' picklefork wakeboard boat, a price point AWESOME boat, and bold new graphics all in one year. Love it or hate it, you have to give them credit for wanting to stand out and taking the risk to do so.

By the way, the X2 above really needs a white platform:-)

robert, i agree with everything........im def a mastercraft guy, just not a fan of the xstar wake, so the verdict is out until i ride an x2.

one thing though... can anyone answer me on this one??

why is the 06 tower shorter than the 05?? i can walk and not hit my head on the bimini or speakers but on the 06 i can??

and can you put the 05 tower on it for more hangtime!!

How much shorter is it? That pic looks like it is pretty high to me.

I gotta say that the black and white looks sick. I'm a Nautique guy, but am very dissappointed in this year's models other than the 220(verdict is still out on that one), but that black and white looks very, very nice. sweet looking boat so far, what's the msrp on the new X-2, ballpark that is?
Old     (mcx2ryd)      Join Date: Sep 2005       10-20-2005, 4:33 PM Reply
$58,000 USD. Out the door I paid $70K CDN. Liking the reviews you guys are giving of the black and white!! The colors I ordered besides I got the white platform!
Old    roadking            10-20-2005, 9:54 PM Reply
Product liability and the NMMA (National Marine Manufactures Assoc.) limit the ammount of ballast. Epic is not a member and can't be because of the ballast. If they get sued they are done and you the customer are on a island alone. MC, CC, Supra and Malibu are all members of the NMMA.
Old     (madchild1)      Join Date: Mar 2005       10-21-2005, 1:42 AM Reply
what about mb? are they a member of the nmma?

i guess all it takes is a few hours to disconnect the hard tanks and replace 'em with some fatty pro-x sacks!

i am really anxious to see what the sacked out wake looks like on that thing!

I went to see the new X-2 at C&M in Renton, WA today (see Darren's post above). What a sweet boat! It's got tons of room, the roomiest 20' boat you'll see. I think it's going to be a huge hit. The sales guy said he thought they'd sell 20 of them just at that store.
Old     (dr_inc)      Join Date: Mar 2005       10-21-2005, 9:11 PM Reply
brent..... ITS A LOT SHORTER!! at lease 9inches to 12 inches

anyone got a clue???

we got one in yesterday check out the other post about x2 @ ski world usa we took a ride in it today i was very impressed. it had tons of room, tons of storage, and had a very nice ride too. the wake looks to have potential for advanced riders and be great for anyone else. for the guys out there that already add 2k -3k worth of ballast in your boat, why would this be any different... you should add wieght if you already do in your current boat, if you dont, then dont. you wont be dissapointed the shape is awesome!
