Wanted to know why this boat is rarely discussed. The boat comes standard w/1600 ballast sys. Also
the boat seems to be laid out well. Any opinions on the wake performance or boat performance?

I have a 01 B52 DD and my neighbor has a 02 B52 V drive. That is a good question why nobody talks about MB, Me and my neighbor have never had any problems with our boats. Wake is about the same as a wakesetter with the wedge and ballast full. I think the MB wake is a little firmer and taller. Performance is great, pulls hard out of the hole even with the ballast full. all in all a excellent boat fit and finish is by far one of the best out there.

It is probably rarely discussed because it is rarely sold. There are very few b-52's, regal sessions, centurions, gekkos, supremes out there. Yes they do sell but I would guess it is about 1:10 to calabria, tige, moomba, sangers or supra and probably 1:15 to malibu, mc and nautique.

I don't know about where your from but out here on the delta I see a ton more Centurions & Supremes then I do Calabria's & Moombas. You are right about MB's though. I see a few every once and a while and they look nice. It just makes me wonder why more people don't buy them.

To my knowledge there weren't any MB dealers in a few state radius to my area until recently one opened in Nasvhille. The B52 looks like a super nice ride. I'm anxious to hear more feedback on the 2 speed transmission.

Do you guys shift them on the fly? I was told you can start out in low gear for getting to plane, then once PP takes over switch into 2nd to lower RPMs and get better fuel economy. Is this the case? Does it work the same way when you're needing to downshift?

N2MYWAKE. Thats how it works you can shift on the fly same for downshifting. There are more MB Dealers on the West Coast than anywhere else. I see quite a few MBs up here in Portland/Vancouver
I think people don't buy them cause they think they have to have one of the [Big 3] to have a good boat.

Thanks Tom. Do you notice the difference in fuel usage? Does it feel bogged down when in high turning a double up or if you had to do a power turn?

The Music City WakeFest in Nashville will be using one to pull the tourney I'm sure. So I should get a good look at it then.

I also agree about people leaning toward the big 3. The guy running the new dealership in Nashville, came from the Mastercraft dealership and he's a believer in the MB's.

I was lucky enough to ride behind/in an '03 B-53 VX2 a few weeks back. I have pics of the wake at home, I'll try and remember to get them up on here tonight.
IMO- The boat's fit and finish was second to none. Very roomy, comfortable, well laid out, and exceptional looking. The 2-speed tranny is functional. I don't drive the boat every day so I don't have any input on fuel consumption with the 2-speed. You do need to throttle back some when shifting so that when it engages it isn't too jerky and 'clunky'.
The wake was very nice, IMO. I would put it's shape not as vert as a Nauti 210 but not as rampy as the '03 X-Star/X-2.
The boat handled DU's and TU's like it was it's job. I felt no cavitation when making very tight turns, even when loaded with the 2100 lb ballast plus people.
Overall, I really liked the boat. I don't care for the flames, but I think they'll be offering some different color/graphic combos soon. You don't have to use the 2-speed all the time. We used just one speed and the boat was still able to get out of the hole respectably and perform well. All for the bargain RETAIL price of 67k

I bought an MB earlier this year & have learned a little about the company since. MB Sports is a very small company compared with the others mentioned. They only sell something in the neighborhood of 300 boats per year & are mainly out west. There are actually quite a few here in Oregon & Washington compared with the numbers posted above. They are as much money as any of the big 3, but the build quality is right there with them. After putting 40 hours on mine since early May, I'm completely sold on them & wouldn't hesitate to buy another if/when I go to buy another boat.

Thanks for all the feedback. The vx2 is a sweet boat but for the price it seems the better deal is without the two speed. I currently own a 01 Supreme v210 that I will be selling. I'm thinking
about getting the MB sport V with the wake board
pkg. You can save a ton that way. Does any one know if the 1600pnds of ballast and a fat sac up front throws a big enough wake or does the boat still need nore weight?

Throw a sack up front and it will be no different than the VX2

I wasn't going to buy the two speed, but then I drove one and fell in love. It pulls out of the hole sweet and then cruises right along in second.
