Sorry about the pointless thread but we just bought a 1989 Ski Nautique 2001!!!! I'm so happy because it's our first inboard. I'm so used to an ankle high wake behind our old boat that the new boat's dry wake scares me!! Again sorry for the useless thread... I'll post a couple pics tomorrow or Tuesday... Probably. (btw- How are you guys tying down the stern of your SN 2001s? ours doesn't have tie down hooks.)

Watch who you ask on this Dan, there's a "strap down the back of the boat" thread where several rocket scientists tell you don't bother doing it! (not me of course) Anyway, looking forward to seeing the pics of your new ride!

Kevin is WRONG.... IF you are trailering any distance at all it is a very good idea to strap down the rear of the boat..

I believe there is a federal law mandating tie downs on the rear of the boat, not just in the front.

Dan-Congrats, I have an 86 2001. When I tie down the stern I use normal transom straps and then I attach them from the swim platform to the trailer. I dont make them SUPER tight, but they are tight enough. See the picture below.

We got 'er at right around 11k. Not too bad for a boat that'll rival 70k v-drives wakes!

The boat's great! I have a similar SN but mine's a 1991. Throw a couple of sacs on the side of the engine and the wake peaks out nicely.

That's a really clean 89. Which IMHO is the best year of the 2001's. Your going to love your new boat. It's also really nice to hear the still sell for a premium. I only paid $16K w/o a trailer for mine in 89. I don't strap mine down, but I only tow seven miles each way in April and October.

Congrats! Thats a beautiful ride. Like Darren said, be sure to sign up over at the2001.com. I added some eyebolts to the prop guard on my trailer and use transom straps to the platform mounts. The platform isn't ideal, but they're plenty strong in shear. I might add some d-rings to the transom if I ever do the foam/floor/stringers. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v127/rj3series/Boat/123_2383.jpg (btw, those straps were only for the pics, I use transom straps similar to the boat buckle).
