I have a 05 Supra 21v and the black swim platform is giving off black residue. It gets on the bottom of our feet, our board shorts, everywhere....does anyone else have this problem? Any solutions or suggestions? thanks

All of us Supra/ Moomba Owners have the same problem. There is really no way to fix it either. I am taking mine off and either getting it Rhino Lined or put some Gator Grip on it.

is this different than the 06 black swim platform?

The gator grip is great. Email him to send you a sample. SC needs to use that stuff on their platforms.

Gator grip is great stuff. The '06 21V swim deck covering is different then the '05 stuff. It reduced the amount of rub off.

Question for those who have changed out the material over to GG or something simlar? Did you sand or remove the other material off first and if so, how?

Stanfield-

Great question, I was just about to ask the same thing. So how did you guys remove the old material?

I did pull/scrape the old stuff off. As much as possible. Then sanded just a little just to give it something to hold. I used a paint scraper and some rough sandpaper. My deck was pretty shot, so I didn't need to scrape much.

Stanfield,

I always suggest to get the surface as clean as possible and to oversize the Gator Grip such that it's not on the bumpy surface of the swimdeck. If water can get up underneath, the glue will start to breakdown and allow the material to lift up.
As for cleaning get off as much of the old material and glue as possible by hand and once you have the old material and the thin film backing from the sticky back, then use Acetone/Goof off to get the remaining glue off. If you get too anxious with trying to get off the material, you'll just have a mess.
