help me decide on a new used boat

Looking for a used boat to replace my ’77 Correct Craft. Current options I am considering based on price are 80’s Correct Craft 2001 Nautiques, an early 80’s Supra Rider, and a mid 80’s Barefoot Nautique.

Here is what I consider the advantages and disadvantages of each:



2001 Nautiques

Advantages: decent slalom wake when un-weighted at slalom speeds, decent board wake with fat sacs at slower board speeds. Correct Craft quality.

Disadvantages: no open bow, flatter bottom at rear means rougher ride, single axle trailer with no brakes.



’83 Supra Rider

Advantages: open bow, 454 big block power, good boarding wake, not sure about slalom wake, better rough water ride, tandem trailer with brakes

Disadvantages: not a Nautique, 454 big block fuel consumption



’85 Barefoot Nautique

Advantages: good boarding wake at lower speeds with weight, decent ski wake at higher speeds, 454 big block power, v hull through transom for better ride in choppy water.

Disadvantages: no open bow, 454 big block fuel consumption, single axle trailer with no brakes.



The wake information noted above is largely on what I’ve read and not actual experience. Any input based on actual experience would be great. Any other criteria I should consider? Any other boats I should consider?

I just recently got rid of my '77 Correct Craft American Skier. While it had a pretty decent wake when sac'd out, it in no way compares to what I have now.

I got an '83 2001 a couple of weeks ago, and let me say, the wake is sick. Much much better ramp than the '77, and alot more stable when weighted.

Suprisingly, I think my old boat could fit inside the 2001. As far as open bow goes, unless you have a tower, the front usually wouldn't get used because of the pylon support wire.

It also does pretty well in rough water. It tackled crossing over a SAN's wake (to keep in the ski line) pretty well. Unless your ready to step up to a newer sport or super sport nautique, I would say get a 2001. The resale on these boats will be way better than the old Supras.
