My DSL connection ran out of bandwidth, so I am starting a new thread for the remaining riders. See the first thread for rider pictures of the open, mini kahuna and youth divisions.

Awesome pics!! thanks! I've never been to a wakesurf contest before and it looks like lots of fun.

Out of curiosity, what kind of tricks do amateur women do?
Old    surfdad            08-13-2008, 3:56 PM Reply
The contest is great fun. We always enjoy the friendships we develop and catching up with folks. Plus you always get to see how folks improve since the last time they competed.

Mostly, the women's am's did lip slides, some cheater 5's, and I do believe that we saw touching knees to the deck.

touching knees to the deck? wow
Old    surfdad            08-13-2008, 4:43 PM Reply
Not both knees, just one. :-) The plural was to indicate that several folks did it.

As soon as we have a date it will be on here.

Cris, a cheater five is when your back foot is on the back half of your board and the toes on your front foot are hanging over the front of the board. This is a fairly easy trick to do. A hang five is much more difficult. Both feet are on the front part of the board with the toes of one foot hanging over the edge. A hang ten is having all ten toes hanging over the front edge. Hang tens and fives are usually long board tricks.

What type of boats and set ups did you use for the tournament?
Old    surfdad            08-28-2008, 5:18 AM Reply
Sanger 237. Check the last post in this thread Dennis gives a quick synopsis of his ballasting and then there is also a link to a thread where Dennis and Mike did their initial test of the Sanger 237.

Awesome. I will try my darndest to be there. I just have to get authorization from the boss.

About what time do these events begin and how long do they run?

Hey Jeff Is that the contest thats at that private lake?
Old    surfdad            09-02-2008, 8:30 PM Reply
Hey Alec, yeah, we have the lower Castaic reserved - NO ROLLERS! :-) That whole section of the lake will just be our contest.

dtw, we won't have access to the site until 7am, so registration won't start until, 8am, we'll have to close the registration at 9 and no doubt 1 hour after registration closes, the first rider will go off.

I'm hoping that we'll be torn apart and heading home by 5pm.

Hey Alex,
Just to be clear. This contest is not on the shallow private lake that we have had in the past. This is an actual lake without any other boats on it except our boats. The lake is only open to row boats and electric motors except for special events like ours. Perfect contest conditions.

Is this date locked in?

If so I want to make a camping reservation, Sat on the lake and sun the contest.
Old    surfdad            09-03-2008, 2:04 PM Reply
Hey Bryan that date is reserved. I have yet to get the permits for signature, so I am calling (again :-) ) to get that from them, but that date is final. We'd love to see you there!

I got the application from the park via fax about 4:30 today. I'll complete that and send them a check (ouch!) for $1,100 tomorrow AFTER I send Smed his board back. :-)
