So I have an '06 Supra 21v and the shaft packing is failing. Worth the money to upgrade to dripless? Is it difficult to do yourself? How much did you pay to have it done by your dealer if so? Thanks for the help everyone!

the packing itself is about 10-20 dollars. I put in the dripless packing about 2 yrs after I bought my 03 supra and there was a noticeable reduction in the # of times by bilge pump would turn on http://skidim.com/prodinfo.asp?number=GFO1/4X24

Our dealer said it would cost about $1000-1500 to change out. Sounds really high to me, but not sure I would want to change it out myself.

What Matt posted is not a 100% dripless. I was told around $1000.00 installed. Here is a dripless.

I put the OJ dripless in my 06 21V. Fairly easy install and will save you from having to repack the shaft seal every year. Skidim has good instructions on the install here.. http://www.skidim.blogspot.com/ .

What do you have to do to check the alignment of the shaft after removal?
