I have 2 questions:

1. If 2 sets of speakers are from different manufactures but use the same speaker POLK/Momo MRC 650's. Aren't going to sound the same, just look different?

2. When installing the speakers(2) and amp, I would like to have the ability to either turn the tower speakers either on or off. Could this be accomplished by running the remote wire from the deck to one of axtra access switched and then on to the amp?

See profile for boat.

The stereo is a Clarion xmd1 with 2 Clarion 4 channels and polk/momo speakers with 2 10" subs. I will be adding tower speakers very soon. I want the system to sound good but I'm not looking to have a stereo that can be heard miles away.

Yes i have that exact setup in my boat. Just break into the circuit where the head unit controls the amp (remote turn on) and run it through your switch. Do not connect power, just connect the side that goes to the amp to one side of the switch and the side coming from the headunit to the other side of the switch. Walah your now controlling the remote turn-on signal. If your just looking to turn it down a bit use the tower speakers on the front or rear channels of your deck and your boat speakers on the other open set.

In addition to using the remote switch for the amp, you can use a PAC LC-2 to control the volume of the tower speakers.

same speakers in different enclosures does not mean they are going to sound the same.
