What to use for sand bags in ski locker

I need to balance out the fat sac I am getting for the back of my boat with some sand bags in my locker. Its not a very big locker but it will do the trick fine. I heard you can get the bags at homedepot and the sand. Will those canvas bags work? What else works well that you guys use. I think I am going to but them in a trash bag also because we get water in there. Any help would be nice.

I use 50 lb. bags of sandbox sand. I just covered 'em in duct tape. That might not work for you; mine don't get wet.

I fill milk bottle and oj conatiners with lead tyre weights put the lids back on and your set

They don't make canvas sand bags any more... at least not what they sell at Home Depot. The cheap sand bags are now a polypropelene woven bag. Works great for the purpose most people want a sand bag for. If used in your boat, expect them to leak sand out over time.

In my boat, I used the cheap sand bags except I filled them with scrap lead that I picked up (free!) at the local shooting range. If you do the shooting range trick, try to gather the lead from the pistol range and NOT the shotgun range.

Not sure if you have a pet cat or not… but try the plastic containers you get kitty litter in. They seem pretty durable and it won’t matter if they get wet. You could glue the cap to make sure to not get sand everywhere.

I have seen plastic Gas Jerry Cans filled with sand. You can get them in all different sizes to fit in the right area for you. I believe a 5 gallon can weighs approx 90lbs filled.

I put the sand bags in big tupperware containers. Keeps the sand from getting everywhere and getting wet. You can also sit on them if you need more seats.

I use the $1.00 - $2.00 sand bags from Home Depot, The plastic bag it is in is pretty durable. I wrap they in a heavy duty Trash bag and it's a done deal. My neighbor is the one who got me to start using this setup. He has been using the same sand bags for over 3 years, he does not cover them like I do and he takes them in and out of his boat all the time. I have had my bags for over a year with no problems either. I think they are 60lbs each.

You can also try to get a smaller sac for your ski locker. Letsgoride.com has many different sizes, and they can custom make for you.
