Those of you that ride the Beaver (hee hee ) What month do you start ridin' ? I've started in May the last couple seasons but I wanna get a good early start this year

That's one of my favorite lakes! I used to take a week long camping/boating trip there every summer. Though I haven't been since gas prices hit $3. Towing my boat up there from Dallas would be $$$$.

It's a really nice lake to ride if you can get away from the tubers and pwc riders

April, MAY?!? Come on people, Arkansas is a year-yound riding state! Christmas with my folks (Arkansas river in Maumelle) means riding :-) You southerners have it good, now get out there and ride! It's -10 here in Madison, so I'm a bit jealous ;-)

You were obviously never introduced to our humid wind.

it feels like your getting hit in the face with ice cicles.

I tried to be a brave man in November, the air temp was a nice 64, and i think the water was high 50s, but even with a heater shirt i couldn't ride because of that wind.

I went out a week and a half ago and it was freezing! I was on our hometown lake though, I'm sure Beaver is even colder.
Old     (lovin_the_wake)      Join Date: Jul 2007       01-22-2008, 7:21 AM Reply
It's like the wind here is always 15 - 20 degrees colder than the actual outside temp it sucks . . . . Caleb, who makes the heater shirt you use ?

Wind? At least in the LIttle Rock area I've never had any issue with wind. I come from Wisconsin, one of the flatter states in the union, so wind is a problem here :-( Y'all have mountains there.

I've ridden there in December and it felt great to me. Air was like 50 and water 45ish. No troubles ! :-)

Actually, I'm hoping to bring the 81 Tique down to Maumelle in April/early May. If anyone is interested in riding with us, let me know. My parents now live on the Arkansas river (in Maumelle), but we'll be travelling to some lakes in the area as well.

Any suggestions on riding spots?

The BLT was in June last year, i remember because it conflicted with our INT.

Brian, Im on a private lake just outside of littel rock, maumelle is 30 minutes from my house. I will also have a winch and rail set up by the time you get here.

Very cool! I can't wait to get back to Arkansas. I spent a few summers there when I was in college and I always loved it. You even take my ribbing about the weather in stride :-)

I'll put up a post when we're closer to the date. I'll have some more newby riders with me, but that should be alright. :-)

I hope y'all can ride behind the 81 Tique. A very high level rider (in my opinion) was even a little scared of it, said it was like an ollie 10 feet up each time, it's so vertical :-)

I used to live on Beaver Lake up until about 3 years ago. Around March -ish is when we started riding without the drysuit, otherwise we just rode all year!

Michael, dude its like, 30 degrees, you can wait till spring, then we shall ride our hearts out.

Clay, Rail/Pool Construction starts around late april; I think we are going to just start out with one rail (probably the flat bar) and add the other one on sometime this summer.

I don't mean to thread-jack, so I apologize if I should have started another thread. I'm trying to plan at trip to Beaver Lake in July. Does anyone have any tips for places to ride, places to stay, etc.? I'd really like to rent a houseboat, but I haven't found any information on that.
Old     (lovin_the_wake)      Join Date: Jul 2007       01-28-2008, 7:26 AM Reply
Which town will you be in ?

I can't seem to find any info on houseboat rentals but I'll ask around some more if you come up around Rogers which is in NW Arkansas then you you should ride the Prairie Creek area . . . the only bad thing about Beaver is watching out for all the dumbass tubers that don't pay attention
Old     (okwakebdr)      Join Date: Jul 2005       01-28-2008, 10:38 AM Reply
We haven't decided where on the lake to go yet? I'm guessing somewhere around Rogers. My wife's family is in Bentonville.

okwakebdr,
I don't think you can rent houseboats on Beaver Lake. Just call a few of the marinas to find out for sure. If you are into camping, the campground facilities at Prarie Creek Marina aren't too bad. There are a few good places to ride depending on the time of day, day of the week, ect. Weekends are fairly busy, if you want the "glass" on the weekends get up early.

I live in Rogers we ride on weeknights I don't ride much on the weekends unless it's before 11am or after 7pm
