The wife and her friend wear toe nail polish in the boat. It leaves streaks in the seats and the gel coat when they get in and out of the boat after boarding. They drag thier toe nails and leave a mark. How do you get the crap off?
That just happened to me this weekend. I just used a little nail polish remover and it came right off. I just made sure to use a lot of water to rinse off the seats when I was done.
Acetone definitely is the product that will get anything off. You can use it on vinyl just remember that it's actually dissolving the vinyl's top layer. So use as little as possible in the smallest area as possible. But hey, some stains just won't come out with anything else!
There is such a thing as non-acetone nail polish remover. It is a little easier on things then the normal stuff. Regardless, I have been the person that has marked and removed the mark from the vinyl on a couple of occassions. Usually I grab the simple green and use some elbow grease to get it out as soon as it happens.
To avoid this problem in the future- ask your wife and her friend to use top coat.
Bahahahaha! Yes, this happens all the time. I just did it to my buddies new Supra Launch (sorry Mikey) not too long ago. I felt horrible. It came off with a little scrubbing of water and vinegar (thank goodness). I will never wear dark colored nail polish in a boat again.
Ah yes, the dreeded toe nail polish streakes. We've had a few instances of that as well. I always keep a mixture of 10% simple green (lemon) and water in the boat for accidents. That and some elbow grease has always done the trick.
