Weather says its warming up next wed and Thursday. Not sure what's past that but that's a 10 forcast so who know what good ol mother nature has planned for us. Regardless we usually make the best out of it at spring ride so who really cares about the weather. Ha ha. That is the last thing on my mind that's for sure

Booking rooms helps the Spring Ride cause. The more rooms we book at the Pines Resort, the more likely they'll want us back next year.

The party is just about ready to begin. The CIE crew will be headed down tomorrow night. Anybody that comes down early, hit us up. I'm sure we'll be in the bar at night and on the lake during at least part of the day.

STOKED!!! It's finally here.

Hello all, Bass lake is off the chain and this time of the year the water will be butta. This is my home lake and it is beautiful. If you enjoy mountain biking we have some of the best trails as well. The Pines bar at night is a blast. C ya there.

hey ill be heading there thurs mornin after i pick up the boat from tulloch. Does anyone know the best way to get there from Copper? From the map it looks like i gotta take 120 to 49 past McClure keep goin all the way to 41? looks like it would be quicker than goin all the way to 99....? but i know it will be a crappy tow. any suggestions?
Old     (allen)      Join Date: Apr 2005       05-05-2009, 4:12 PM Reply
I think that's the best way but that tow IS GOING TO SUCK. I have never done the whole way I think Jarrod has done it on a Moto he might be able to answer better.

I think J-Rod addressed this in another thread but what are the additional fees for a boat - registration $$ and launch $$
Thanks
Clete

Ok, thanks, looks like 35/day slip. See you there. Weather looks incredible (again) especially after all the rain and wind here for the last few weeks.
Old     (jarrod)      Join Date: May 2003       05-05-2009, 8:46 PM Reply
Rehab, hwy 49 south of Sonora is crazy!!! Thousands of feet of ascending and descending, switch back turn after switch back turn. I beleive it would be way faster to drop down to 99 and head south. Gorgeous drive, but with a boat in tow, you'll tear up your brakes and put a beat down on your trani.

Sorry about the boat slip fees guys. Origninally we were told 20 bucks, wich we didn't like, later on it became $35.
Old     (mammoth)      Join Date: Apr 2005       05-06-2009, 7:34 AM Reply
What is the elevation profile like for the tow from 99? I have concerns that the old farm truck might run in to some trouble if there are any extra long steep sections. Does the road gradually get up you up to lake elevation or are there some good climbs?
Old     (allen)      Join Date: Apr 2005       05-06-2009, 8:59 AM Reply
Nate, its a pretty easy climb if you go down to Madera and then come up (I think its 41) Very gradual climb all the way up. There isn't one section that I would worry about.

quote of the year:
"I promise the road is wide and there is NO SNOW" hahaha

We'll let you know how the tow goes... We'll be trying to kill my truck tonight. X-star, all CIE's gear/booth set up, thousands of pounds of lead, 4 guys and all of our supplies for the week. We'll see what the Ford is made of. LOL!!

thanks j-rod...we are taking a friends diesel thats a stick so that doesnt sounds fun....looks like were going around to 99!

From the north 99 to Madera hwy 145 exit east cut through town head into the country to fwy 41 north and follow the signs. That is way better than the mountain drive. From the South 99 North to 41 North go through Fresno and follow the signs. There are two ramps one at Ducy's last year it was 5.00 in and 5.00 out. or south west lower end of lake is a free ramp. You also need to register with the sherrifs station on the island. If I remember correctly it was around 40 to 50 bucks. Peace out Bro's c ya there.
Old     (allen)      Join Date: Apr 2005       05-06-2009, 2:54 PM Reply
YOU DON'T NEED TO REGISTER WITH THE SHERIFF!!!!!!! How many time do we have to say this, that starts next weekend, the 16th. I spoke with the sheriff about this issue personally.

BRING YOUR BOATS!!!

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REGISTER YOUR BOAT WITH THE SHERIFF. ALL YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR IS LAUNCH

BRING YOUR BOATS!!!

I dunno Al, these guys are first class gougers.

I just got off the phone with the resort, and in addition to the $35 a night for the slip...they charge $35 a night for trailer storage. I called a second time to confirm that this was the case. The resort *might* have some parking available, but be prepare to pay $70/night just to bring a boat.

I might be heading out just for the day. My wife just had a baby last weekend. so lets see what she says about me going. i asked her when were driving to the hospital. haha and she said she didnt mind then as long i bring my two year old with me hahaha. Last year was a Blast! I can only imagine this years!!!!!

Let me ear this up for you guys one last time. It is free if your staying in the hotel and $10 if your not. For a slip it is $35 no matter what. The guy running the slips is not affiliated with the hotel. The CIE boys have worked hard to get the special pricing and the Sheriff to stand down on their fee's for this weekend. The 35 dollar charge for your trailer is if you want the guy running the slips to store your trailer for a week. There is trailer parking at the ramp.

Thanks for the details Gary, I hadn't heard of parking near the ramp and was only going by what they told me on the phone.

Crash and I just picked up the boat from the marina, I wish we could leave tomorrow!

i'm on my way up tomorrow. doin a lil pre-spring ride motocross riding tomorrow and friday and then be chillin at the event the rest of the time. its going to be a good weekend.
Old     (jarrod)      Join Date: May 2003       05-07-2009, 6:40 AM Reply
I'm not too concerned about trailer parking. There is a lot of space to park up there. The guy that is trying to come up on trailer parking has one small area. The rest of the lot belongs to the resort, and it's a lot more parking that we are used to having at Tulloch.

Ryan, are you Riding with Joe? He invite me to ride, too much on my plate to deal with bike stuff right now, but I would love to go.

If you would like to avoid paying slip fees, you can probably drop anchor in front of the resort off of their beach, or pull your boats out.
Old     (mammoth)      Join Date: Apr 2005       05-07-2009, 9:21 AM Reply
The Slip fee is fair enough, I can understand paying for a spot for an event at a resort. Parking the boat at something like SR is worth the cost, it's like bringing your own luxury box to game! I was put off by the idea of paying for a slip and a trailer space but am stoked to hear that I was just confused!

Boat sitting in front of the house is killing me. Crash needs to just quit his job so we can get on the road.

No more Global Warning Premier. Last minute call, out of our control. Luckily, Spencer came through with the Highlite video premier now scheduled for Saturday night. Live saver bro!! Thank you.

Throwing DU's with a Wakesetter LSV this year.

More clarification on the boat slips....here's the official deal: Boat slip parking is free all day. At 8PM, if your boat is still in the slip, you need to pay an overnight fee. Guys, don't leave your boat in the slip over night and forget to pay. Apparently it is NOT okay to just pay in the morning. If you try to get over, your boat slip may be locked (with your boat in it) in the morning when you come out at 6AM to ride. That would be very bad!

We're still rolling the Xstar, but Malibu is a big sponsor this year for the event.

Allen, Evan, and Billy are down there. I think they road this morning. Hit them up. I heard it was warm and glassy.

Holly Shizzz do you guys realize that this is the day before the official kick off to Spring Ride??????
There is still some rooms available and you don't want to miss this one. I showed a video of last years event to a few co-workers and they are gonna make the trip up for Sat and Sun so if you gots Wake Peeps that are even close to the area you better spread the word and attend!
Just remember the more events you support the more events that will happen in the future.
