I never liked any of the cars from the US automakers, until I saw the new 2014 Sierra.

Test drove every single truck out there, and while I know 80% of you guys are Ford fans, it was my least favorite of all, I think Ram and 2014+ GM/C are the best out of all (exterior/interior/power-train).

Good looking ride there. How come we only get one pic? Show off that interior too!

Awesome man! Good for you. Thanks for keeping fellow Americans such as myself employed. I personally work at GM and worked on installing, qualifying, and assisting the start of production of the engine block machining line.

Good choice on the Sierra as well. In my opinion it looks far better than the silverado.

Once it's broken in I'd be curious to know your highway mpgs crusing and towing.

MPG is great, i'm getting about 28 hwy driving at 65 mph.
Towing my boat, about 14mpg average.

Here is a stock pic of the interior

Nice looking truck. 28 MPG??? Wow! What motor does it have? Is that 2 or 4wd? 1/2 ton?

5.3 Direct injected, with cilinder deactivation and variable timing.

Mine is 2WD, 4WD got about 20-22 mpg much worse.

I initially was going to buy the 4WD, but it did not make sense to pay 2k more for 8 mpg less, and salesman agreed with me, you should of seen his face how surprised he was of the mpg difference.

Very nice color, I wish the had that color in stock when i got mine, I believe its called White Diamond Tricoat or something like that.

White has also the highest resale value in my opinion, because it is the most forgiving color, when it comes to dents and scratches.

Yeah, that color is white diamond tricoat.

Your seriously getting 28 mpg at 65 mph highway? I've talked to a couple coworkers who had company pickups with the new Gen V 5.3, and they were saying 24-25 mpg was pretty easy at highway cruise.

28 mpg is flat out incredible.

^I'm not sure that is a very scientific approach. I can reset my fuel montior and get over 100 mpg with the 8.1. Every dummy knows thats 10 times what it actually gets!

Do a full tank fill up to fill up and tell us what your MPG actually is. Ive only seen one vehicle that actually had an incredibly accurate MPG meter and it was most defiantly not a GM truck.

On that note, I did a recent x-country drive with my 08 gmc sierra 2wd 5.3L with 33" tires/leveling kit and surprisingly averages 19-21mpg at 70-75mph.

It also pulled a 10,000# trailer back the whole 3000 mile trip on the stock hitch. I would not recommend it but nothing broke. The mountains are tough and I was crawling through Wyoming on the 4000ft-9000ft climb then back down the other side of the mountain. Averaged 10-11mpg.

Very nice!! I ordered my SLT the other day and I should have it in a couple months. I was told that there will be rebates coming out later this year and that's when I'll be taking delivery of mine.

I love the GMCs. I have a 2011 4x4, and I'm seriously considering a upgrade to the 2015 when they release. My truck has been flawless for the first 70K miles. It's never once been back to the dealer. And while people knock the 5.3, with a 6 speed auto, it does an excellent job towing.

Jarrod, why you waiting for the 15? The 5.3 does an amazing job and the 5.3 in the 14's are just better. More MPG and more HP and torque.

Side note, we'll be coming up to your neck of the woods in a few weeks. Baby girl will be here soon, and I'll get a day to play. Cable and boat, or just cable, boat, etc. I'll keep you posted homie.

Sick truck, and boat btw, I really considered going with that blue it's pretty damn sexy.

Though 28 mpg's sounds unreal... I have an 2WD '08 Sierra with the 5.3 variable valve timing and have found the "lie-o-meter" to be very accurate when compared with the fill up method and maybe it does take some time to break it in, though that makes zero sense to me. I've done numerous road trips in it and right at 21 for hwy and 17 -18 for mixed.

I also thought that comment about liking the sierra better than silverado was funny as they are so similar, but obviously something is drawing us all to these sierras

My 2011 only has 70K. I'm driving 30K a year, so by next year, I'll be approaching the end of the powertrain warranty. Plus I'm currently saving for a sports car.

I like the GMC front end over the Chevy. They look a little tougher and are a little less common.

Just got back from checking out the '14 GMC, wow! Nice truck! I looked at an "All Terrain" edition and it had a sweet interior with carbon leather accents on the doors and seat bolsters. The crew cab still isn't quite as big as a Ford or a Toyota but they definitely made it have some more leg room. I put the front seat all of the way back (where I need it) and was able to sit right behind it and my legs didn't touch the seat in front of me so they definitely added a few inches of rear seat legroom.
Features that I liked:
  • usb ports on the dash and in the center console
  • 110 volt outlet on the dash
  • Cargo box lighting under the bed rails
  • new tailgate that won't slam down, drop it and it slowly descends.
  • LED Cabin lighting
  • Carbon Fiber looking leather

One more thing that I haven't read about anywhere yet, you get a 25 HP/33 lb ft. performance bump by running E85! SWEET! They don't list the decreased fuel mileage numbers with E85 though...
Horsepower/Application:
355 @ 5600 rpm (gas)
380 @ 5600 rpm (E85)

Torque:
383 lb-ft @ 4100 rpm (gas)
416 lb-ft @ 4100 rpm (E85)
