On my Ski Centurion, it seems that maintaining the Teak platform is always a chore and I never seem to get good results. I've used the Star-Brite cleaner and Oil, yet it still turns grey after a couple of weeks. What are the 'secrets' or tips to keep the teak looking "maintained"? Thanks!

Put oil on it each time you store it. Either you have to do continual maintenance or, once a year reconditioning.

I maintianed mine for the last time last Firday. took it off, sanded the crap out of it, tightened all screws and had it sprayed with Line X for $150. Used it Sunday and it is great, should have done it sooner. Rick

Cover it with Rhinoliner or another truck bed liner and never worry about it again.

I sanded mine and used a deck protectant stain! It looks and wears great and I only reapply once a year and it continues to look like this all year long. Forget teak oil.

My new Malibu, which is being delivered Sat. comes with the fiberglass platform. I like the look of teak better. Should I keep the glass or go for teak?

Use the Allguard product Teak Guard. It is pretty easy to do and once you have applied for the first time, you just have to touch up nicks and scrapes.

Sand it down and buy a spray bottle (wal-mart garden section) spray a lite mist over the whole platform, let sit and sun and dry then repeat. If you keep the platform on the boat make sure you tape off the fiberglass so no oversparay gets on the boat

David! Hope we didn't lose ya, man..what'd you do with the SX? Teak. Swimstep covers are awesome. No graying of my teak...I still re-oil about once every couple months, just to keep it really bright. Oh, and don't let people juice-up the bindings with their fins on the teak.

i hate fiberglass platforms, you always get fin marks in the colored section of the fiberglass, Teak is much better in my opinion.

Teak is really easy to take care of, just rub a little teak oil on it after each use, takes about 2 minutes with a wax applicater pad. I'm against the fiberglass platform, gotta really watch the dock, boards. The black pad also gets hotter than hell if it's above the waterline at all. Never been on a deck that's been Line-X'd, but I would bet that it would get pretty hot, too.
