Wakeman,

What state are you in. I know quite a few people with "older" boats and we'll take you out and let you ride behind them. Right now I am in AZ, but will be back in WI in a month. Let me know if you are close.

Keep trying man, I have an old supra and it work real good for what I have into it. It may not be full of bling, but it's fun and does it's job day after day. Keep posting and try to talk to people when your at the lake, they'll give you a pull. Good luck man.

2001 is the older boat to have. but finding them (in good condition) becomes the issue. any older MC, nautique or supra will get you started. find a boat in good condition, with low hours
Old     (wakeman7)      Join Date: Jan 2007       03-06-2007, 6:25 AM Reply
Thats what I have been looking for. I am just a teen so I need something cheap with a good wake. I might be able to sell my families bayliner [ the worst wake ever, or lack there of] to get some money towards buying a boat.
Old     (malibuboarder75)      Join Date: Jan 2004       03-06-2007, 7:38 AM Reply
Definately get rid of the bayliner and buy a 2001. The wake is amazing. I got mine in great condition for $4500. I still plan on completely redoing it by replacing the stringers, floor, and a new paint job. Should be a sick boat when finished.

Took me a while, but I found my MC Tristar for about your pirce.
Great boat, decent wake, and you gotta love the open bow. Check the profile pic for the look of one.

Downside, took about 5-6 months to find...Upload

What do you guys think of AG`s boat. Also any things I could say to my Dad because he keeps saying well 1982-1989 is a old boat.

You could tell him that they have already depreciated and that if you had to sell it you could probanbly make your money back
Old     (denverd1)      Join Date: May 2004 Location: Tyler       03-06-2007, 1:24 PM Reply
i would take a hard look at AG's and the 2001 you linked. I don't think the martinique hull was much different from 210. and the 2001 is proven.

If thats too old, look for correct craft Super Sport. vdrive 210 hull.

like matt said, it won't depreciate much and you still get a world class wake. Tell your dad other than real estate, its about the only thing that will hold its value. He's just loaning you the money, he'll get it back when you guys sell/trade up.
Old     (wakeman7)      Join Date: Jan 2007       03-06-2007, 1:29 PM Reply
I wont say about the real estate cause he lost 100k on that one. Also I know I have to make my mind up but in your mind if you had a super low buget which would you buy.
Old     (jon4pres)      Join Date: May 2004       03-06-2007, 1:49 PM Reply
Dont be fooled by a tower bolted to a boat. The things you need to be looking at when buying a boat this old are floors, stringers, motors, and transmissions. Dont pick a boat before you atleast get to see it.

Nacho,
I did put the snaps and cover on. I have a friend in the business that does a really good job with that stuff.

you may want to tread lightly on the subject then, but you could make the case that a wakeboat is GREAT investment!

FYI a super sport will be in the 15K range. but might help your old boat argument. You can also find a 'nautique sport' *i think* for about 13K. Same hull as 210, direct drive. good luck.

Being in Florida, saltwater use will be a big concern on older boats.
Old     (wakeman7)      Join Date: Jan 2007       03-06-2007, 2:11 PM Reply
I really have know intentions on using it in salt water. 13k is out of my range. I need to keep it under 10k. My mom understands that the bayliner aint gunna cut it but my dads like oh maby we can put a tower on it.
Old     (wakebrdr38)      Join Date: Sep 2006       03-06-2007, 3:02 PM Reply
where are you located wakeman? if its in the dallas area or even central tx i can give you a ride on my 2001 to let you see what its like. just a warning though, you will prolly fall in love with her. lol seriously though, the 2001 wake is world class. it is a wakeboat! and they are in your price range, and the value on a lot of them is goin up. for my dad and i it was a no brainer after we saw it.

Man I lived about 2 and a half hours from there in oklahoma. About 4 months ago I moved to florida. I have family in Dallas/ fort worth. I am going there in september for a wedding. I am only 13 but maby we can ride when I come there.

miss texas? i would! yeah the wake scene is ok here. i got a secret spot that is a mile of glass most days. as for the people, im in a rich area so there are alot of punk a$$ kids drivin 70,000 dollar boats. but i keep seein more and more old school boats showing up, which is nice to see. where i go to school is near lake austin, and id say almost every wakeboat out there is a nautique and there are 2001's seriously everywhere! its really cool! and the people that i met up there with the 2001s were really cool. its like as soon as you meet them you are friends with em cus you got love for the old school nautiques

YOu can also call over to Miami Ski Nautiques and tell them to keep an eye out for you. Good people over there. Talk to Luke.

Nacho, If you find a decent Super Sport for 15k let me know. Most of them are listed over 20k.

Wakeman, I was saying that putting a tower on a boat is not hard but fixing a blown motor or redoing stringers is a LOT of work. Buy a good solid 2001 and then add the wakeboard stuff as you get the money.
