So we were down at lake shasta this past memorial day weekend from Portland, Or. and I had a bracket snap holding the impeller housing. We were lucky enough to get to the mastercraft dealer down in Redding (Props to them for getting us back on the water for the weekend). They didn't have the bracket in stock, but We were able to weld the bracket back together. My question is... When we took the broken bracket off, we noticed that it had been welded at least once before, maybe twice. Now I have only owned this boat for the last 3 years, so the original owner must have welded it. Has anyone else had this problem before? If so, is there another type of bracket that can be used to replace the factory one? It seems there is a lot of torque on this bracket and losing your impeller housing could be disasterous. Thanks, for any responses..

Hmmm...I had heard of alternator brackets snapping, but not the waterpump.

Any pictures?

Also J-rod that problem with the alternator brackets was only on the MCX motors.

I have not heard of a water pump bracket problem either.

I have a '00 X-Star and have not had any problem with the water pump bracket. However, I did break mutliple alternators/bolts before the new bracket "fix" came out. My engine is the 330 hp LTR.

Ditto with a 99 X-star alternator. Broke the alt housing. I got the bracket update and a new alternator (good opportuninty for an alt upgrade) and has been fine since.

No problems with the waterpump bracket, but the raw water pump bearings crapped out around 600 hours.
