Draining Oil Ideas

going to change the oil in the boat, im getting tired of using the pump thing through the dipstick, anyone got any cool inventions or ideas of draining the oil from the bottom of the pan?

I met some old guy that lives on my lake and he drains his oil to his bildge and then just throws it over into a bucket. Then cleans the bildge. I thought it was hilarious.

There is a contraption that you can screw into the drain plug hole. It is attached to a tube that allows you to drain the oil out of the bilge drain hole. It works perfect every time! I got mine at Skidim.com

Polkaking, How long you been in Vancouver and what part are you in?
I'm up in the Felida area.
And Ken, Why have we never been out together?
We need to change that this summer.

I'm right off the 14 and 164th... I'm so new I don't even know what the Felida area is. I've been here since January. I'm looking to ride at Lacamas and maybe the columbia, are those decent spots? Where do you guys ride?

I like how he makes it sound so easy for the drain tube through the bilge. After running my boat 1 day for a few hours, I opened up that line and drained to a tube. It drained for a week and all the oil still did'nt come out.

We actually use the drain hose to hook the oil pump to. Takes for ever to drain that way.

My hose drains very slow...but it does work. I had to get a long funnel to get the oil from the end of the hose to my bucket on the garage floor. I had a little spillage the first time.

Same thing here Supra Man. I removed the screws from the wakeplate cylinders and dropped the plate down too.

Drain it when the engine is hot! Oil will come out much faster hot. I first stuck my boat in the water for 3 or 4 minutes just on the ramp, no good, really need to warm the thing up. Look at the temp gauge and get it up to at least 125.

Your Moomba does have a drain hose ("EZ Drain")connected to the bottom of the crankcase, and there's a lot faster way to drain the oil than letting it seek out that that hose through the bilge drain hole.

Here's a link to post about the "adapter" I put together to connect EZ drain hose to a vacuum-type oil drain device (they used to be sold by "Tempo," but now they have a different name).

It takes maybe 10 minutes to drain hot oil from the engine.
