I am getting fitted for my knee brace after ACL surgery in a couple of days. They are recommending the Donjoy Armor but i read a lot of wakeboarders like the CTI braces, i also snow ski, skate and ride motocross, can anyone give me a little advice on what brace to ask for?

Depends i use a Donjoy Armor and love it fits well and doesn't really slide after you get in the water and reset the straps. But i am biased as i have never used the CTI braces

I have the armor, and Defiance 3. I would definitely recommend they give you an upgrade to the D3. I might be wrong, but I think the armor is just an off the shelf, non-custom brace. I would like a CTI as well, but my current ortho deals w/ Donjoy.

I used to have the CTi2 brace and it worked really well, that is till I dropped it in the delta!

I just had a new ACL put it and I was wondering what brace to get next time. I'm thinking one that doesn't sink. hahaha

I've used all 3 ... I like the CTI the best. It does not slide down the leg like the DonJoy's do. Both of them attach with velcro so either way, it is going to come off on some falls unless you make modifications.

If your knee brace slides, talk to the rep ( or orthotist that fit your brace) for the company and get the pads that were designed for water sports.

My CTI2 vapor has a better fit than my donjoy.

of course the CTI is the newer of the two (most recent leg molding)

EDIT: I was able to call CTI and they sent me replacements for my lost condile pads (Tobs stole them i think :-) )
Only charged me shipping.

You can ask for special chamois pads for your donjoy, they don't slip. Mine was custom, not sure if they're all custom?

You should always have the choice of what brace you want. The ortho's decision is usually based on what company that they are in bed with. If you want a different brand, demand that they give you waht you want. Mine wanted to get me a Donjoy and I told them I wanted a CTi. No problems.

My ortho rep said I could have which ever one I wanted but i did'nt know what to tell him yet. I think my script is for an off the shelf brace only. Which CTI off the shelf is best for wakeboarding and motocross? Oh yea, thanks for all the info up to now.
