Anyone one have any ideas on how to tighten this nut. There's not a whole lot of room to fit a crescent wrench or pipe wrench down there. Just curious if anyone is using any special tools.

The instructions for my boat say "Tighten the shaft log packing nut by hand. DO NOT over tighten."

I used a giant cresent wrench to hold mine and a pair of giant channel lock pliers to release the packing. As you know though my Nauty was different than what you have. The important thing though is that you set the drip pattern up correctly. The packing has to drip so that the seal is lubricated. At least one drip every three seconds at the least. You could always make some wrenches out of 1/4 inch plate.

How is the knee doing?

We, as a service center, have to pull the engine on most V-drives. My suggestion would be to pull the engine and install a PYI dripless shaft seal(like the bombardier sea-doo's have). If you need one contact me @ 253-891-0762--PARTS DEPT. We are in Washington state.----But if you would have bought a Ski Supreme V-drive they come standard with a dripless shaft seal( carbon ring system).

Thanks for the info. I think I'll make a stubby wrench to fit down there. I don't think I'll pull the engine since there's still room to tighten on the nut; plus your talkin .

Peter- I'm about 90%, just kinda shaky on those hard landings. I'm way more conscious of where and how I land.
