Any opinions on a Merc 350 Mag in an 03 Tige 24V? What hp is this motor. The add says 330hp but based on looked at some other models I thought the 350 Mag was either 310 or 315 hp. Would this be enough power for a big boat like the 24V?

Hard to say. The 24v hull is supposed to be a good one but that was in tiges we don't need ballast days (stupid). So it's hard to say if that'll be enough motor

i think 315. It will struggle if you are running a lot of ballast for wakrboarding. If you aren't looking for huge wakes and will run under 1500 of ballast you will be fine as long as you have an aggressive prop. At least on my boat surfing doesn't seem to work it that hard, so you should be able to load it up for that, again with an aggressive prop.

Is the V-drive the black 1:1 gear or the blue 1.5:1 gear? Better prop options for that boat with the 1.5:1 gear. I think that engine was a 330 by that year.

It doesnt have ballast but I would add probably at least a 2000 to 2500lb system. As far as use i mainly surf and wakeboard but I do occasionally like to break out the slalom ski so I wouldnt want to go to aggressive on the prop to where it was red lining whenever I tried to ski at 32mph. I havent seen the boat in person yet but I think it has some other cosmetic issues so I will probably keep looking even though it is a good price.

I have pretty much narrowed my search down to the Tige 22V, 24V, or maybe an Avalanche somewhere in the 03 to 06 year range. Was the 350 Mag the standard engine for the early 22 and 24V's or will I have better options if I keep looking? I have seen a few 24V's with the 6.0 380 hp but they have been out of my price range.

Not sure on the v-drive but that is a good thing to check.

The 340hp motor is the one you want. I have an 05 Tige 24v with it and we don't struggle at all when surfing with 3k worth of ballast. The 350mag is 315 hp, but much less torque then the 340hp motor.

350 MAG 5.7L- 315 HP
Black Scorpion 5.7L - 330 HP
MX Black Scorpion- 6.2L 340 HP

I think that's the way it was for a long time. I have the Black Scorpion 5.7, wish I had the 6.2, but the the motor has been solid so I can't complain. And I got a great deal.

You can still ski at 32MPH with a aggressive prop. Engine will scream at 40 and redline around 42 maybe?

Yes the Marine power 340hp is a great motor..I have the the same engine in my 22v although in 2003 it was rated @335hp. But the bottom line no matter if the rating on the Merc is 315 or 330hp its a 5.7L just like your engine and will have very simular torque . Thats what its all about when it comes to getting the boat rolling.
So to the OP the 5.7 Merc. works well in the 24v. I have been in plenty of them with both the Merc and Marine Power. They both do well. The Vbox ratio is a big help so look into that. I also happen to prefer the Marine Power over the Merc. I work on all brands of ski/wake boats every day and really like the way Marine Power does things. Nothing wrong with a Merc. I just like MP better.
