Hi: I just bought the Accon marine pop up bow light. I thought it was the same one that Malibu used but this one seems to be a bit larger. I dont know if its gonna fit because the stock bow light is mounted so forward and this ones a bit bigger than I thought. Question what pop up bow light does Malibu use? A friend after seein my'n said the pop up bow light on his Bu is smaller than the one I have.
Here is a Pic of the bow of my boatUpload
And here is a pic of the light I boughtUpload

I think that would look sick with the retractable lifting ring next to it.. Maybe move it back a little though..

Im not sure where the stock holes for the bow light are. When I get my boat back I can take the stock light out and see if I can place the new light in a position that covers the holes that the sock light used. Im just afraid that when I take the orignal light out I might have some holes in places that might make installing the new light tough. The new light is pretty big and the surface that it needs to mout to has to be pretty flat. The bow on my boat dosent get flat till pretty far back

Malibu used that light through 2004, They switched to a different style for 05-present. I will see if I can find the model.

Grant, I wrote that install article above. I believe the new light is made by Attwood, but I'm not sure on that. I can dig around and find some info if Chris doesn't have time.

I personally dislike the pop up. Just means I have to get out of my seat, climb over a phat sac and all the other gear.

Brian: I thought the light I got (Accon Marine) was ulgy but the light you posted a pick of takes the cake. It looks like darth vaders head. LOL That light looks like it shares some of the same DnA as the Accon marine light. I was planning on switching out the factory bulb to a LED anyway.

The one I wanted to get is the one they use on the new Malibu's. I guess they used to use the Accon Marine light (the one I have) and now they use a newer smoother looking one.

Jrod: I thought the same thing. A pop up light is sorta going backwards. Right now all I have to do is push the button and with a Pop up you have to flip it over yourself. It kkinds seems backwards to me. I dont have a problem with it. I think about all the time I lean over the front of the boat to attach the anchor to the bow hook and the bow light wont be poking me in the chest.

The easy way would be from a Malibu dealership but obviously you're going to pay more for it than online. I think I had a link to an online source, I'll see if I can find it.

I Bought the same light for my boat. I love it!
The only issue I had was having to cut such a large hole in the bow.

Are those motorized?
Old     (99sportster)      Join Date: Oct 2005       10-12-2006, 5:28 AM Reply
No....Push button locking mechanism allows the flush mount light to swivel 180 degrees for easy unobtrusive under deck storage when not in use

Grant will figure out a way to motorize it...I have faith!!!

You know, a 12v lock solenoid might have just enough actuation length to accomplish this.

I want to see one fabricated from the ground up using Carbon Fiber.
