Ryan - who in god's name told you the Byerly was a "higher end" binding?
First off, I have ridden both quite a bit. The Byerly had some cool features, but the BOA system is a concern and you will be replacing the knobs and laces at some point, but this should be covered under warranty - but we all know that your board shop is most likely not lakeside and when it breaks its gonna be on the water.
Byerly:
Positives: comfy, decent ankle support, neato BOA system.
Negatives: BOA system will break, BOA system can take a whole lot of cranking to get you in right.
PS01:
Positives: super comfy, great ankle support, direct connect to board feel, snowboard style boots.
Negatives: stiff and hard to enter till broken in, laces take some getting used to,
overtightening laces will keep you ATTACHED no matter how hard you fall.
My choice of the 2 is the PS01 hands down. It's what I ride now as a matter of fact
