I have a 12" DVC Sub. Each coil is a 4 ohm load. My 2 channel kenwoood amp will handle each coil hooked up in stereo (125 watt rms @ 4ohm) or would the amp have an easier time if I hook the coils up in series for an 8 ohm load and run the amp bridged (460 watts @ 4 ohm)? The amp states if running in bridged mode that the speaker load should be a minimum of 4ohms. I'm just looking for opinions on what would make the amp work less for equivalent sound.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

If your amp is rated at x watt@4ohms bridged and isnt 2ohm stable bridged, without potentially damaging the amp, then you can either...

run the coils in series, raising ohm to 8

get a 2ohm DVC and run it in series, giving you 4 ohms

get another 4ohm dvc, run the coils in series and wire the woofers in parallel, giving you 4ohms.

get an amp that is 2 ohm stable bridged.

Bridging the amp doesnt drop the ohms..Stereo doesnt raise the ohms.

Check out this woofer wizard...http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wiringwizard.asp
