Thinking about stripping the "Hurricane" decal. The flames are in the gelcoat. Think it would look good w/o it? Also, it's an '02 do you all think the hull under the decal will be "more white" than the rest of the hull? What could I do about it?Upload

Take it off.

It may be a little more white, but I doubt it would be too much. Try peeling it slowly at first to get an idea

Give it a buff. It will make it look the same. As long as the rest of the exposed gel goat isn't nasty.

I would definitely take it off. There is a hull cleaner called FSR that will make it all the bright white.

Trick is use heat. Then clean right away with rubbing alcohol.

I would use a pinstripe/decal eraser (goes on a cordless drill) . They work awesome and there usually isn't much residue left behind.

I just took off mine with a hair drier and removed sticky stuff with rubbing alcohol. Worked great.

I didn't even use the hair dryer but it probably would have made it that much easier then goof off to get the residual junk followed by waxing.

I'm guessing by the responses that rubbing alcohol works better than acetone. I just replaced one of my "AIR" decals on my Nautique and it was a mess getting the sticky stuff off with acetone.

I am with william... take all the stickers off. Make it all white and tint the windows... it would look like a completely different boat.

Take it off, I took mine off and looks much better. Use a blow dryer and you wont have any sticky left. should come off clean (mine did)

Yeah, I wish I could remove any and all graphics. At least the flames aren't over bearing, just near the top of the hull. Thanks for the advice, hair dryer and alchohol it is....

sticker shock works pretty good for removing the decals and adhesive. its gelcoat safe , you can get from autozone . Worked on my 15 year old stickers on my malibu pretty well.

I actually love the flames, and was glad that they are in the gel coat. Mine also has flames.

I had a huge Centurion sticker on my boat. Took a heat gun less than 20 minutes to remove. Took most other ones off except the Max Load and Carbon Monoxide stickers.

Heat gun just keep moving back and forth. It'll pull off when it's warm enough. No residue for me, but new boat.
