Thinking of switching out the amps to these. I need a little less current draw and the the extra space would be nice. Any thoughts.

I am not running them yet, but am currently putting in 2X 4.150's and a 1.1000. I will let you know once I get them hooked up (hopefully by the weekend). Yes, they are very compact. Hopefully they will do the job. It's kind of an expensive experiment if they don't work well.

I have three of them ( 4.150, 4.100, and 600.1) I haev roughly 5-10 hours of play time on them due to my nosie issues (not related to the amps). Pros: they are small, they put out rated power, they look great installed, sq is decent. Cons: overpriced IMO, don't run near as cool as I would have thought (just as cool as any decent class D sub amp being pushed hard). I haev no way of tellign how much current draw they really haev but I haevnt' noticed my batteries being drained any less or any more since having them.

I switched from massive audio amps.

IMO I thought the massive audio 200x4 RMS amp was noticeably louder than the 4.150 PDX...I normally can't tell any difference between 50 watts RMS. or at most just a minimal diff.

Alpine has traditionally made a quality product. It will be a while to see if these things take off...they remind me of the tri-path amps of a few years ago.

One other negative is the inability to run full range pre-outs out of the amp. Whatever your amp crossover is set at will be the crossover of the pre-outs. If you daisy chain amps this can be a potential issue.

I'll know in about 2 weeks how they withstand a beating. I've got a 4 day house boat trip planned...my boat stereo should be running 6-8 hours a day 2-3 days.

What's your 1.600 running. I'm thinking of getting two of those, one for each 12w6.

I'm actually in the process of re-doing my subs....the 600.1 was pushing a tc sounds 10" tc-1000 ( very comparable to the 10w6). I think the 600.1 would be a great match to the 12w6. It will be pushing a kicker 12 L7.

I have been very impressed with my mmats amp ( d1600.1) that pushed my 2 diamond audio 12's. the amp is small, gets great reviews ( regarded as one of the better sub amps made) on all audio boards, reasonably priced used, and runs very effecient ( I've never owned an amp that stays that cool). http://mmatsproaudio.com/ The d2100.1 would be perfect on those 12w6's.

club myke mentioned to me once they are hard to get a hold of in case of repair, but that doesnt' really sway my decisions.

Not interested in running amps at 1 ohm anymore. I'm either going with the 2 pdx 1.600's at 2 ohms, or a JL 1000/1 at 4 ohms for the two 12w6's.

Waht issues were you having showing your amps a 1ohm load? Buy a high quality amp and you should be able to run 1 ohm with no problems.

With the 1000/1 you will have alot more crossover adjustment ( slope, bass boost-if you like that, ect)

I was using a memphis amp and it sounded like crap. I like the jl 1000/1 but it's huge, plus i can get 2 of the 600.1 pdx's for the same price. I don't think the pdx 1.1000 has enough @$$ so didn't want to go that route.

If you have access to a decent quality 1 ohm stable amp you should try it. My personal opinion of memphis is that it's ok. I had a friend that had a couple of the 500x1 RMS class d amps and I wouldn't be surprised if they bench tested around 300-350 RMS. Either that or that amps made the subs sound that bad.

I run the pdx 4.150 in my 4runner..it puts out lots of power (blew my diamond hex mids) and sounds good but not great. I only used it because it was small and I wanted to hide it. Not worth the money IMO if space isn't a HUGE issue like it was for me. My Polk Momo 4 channel sounded way way better. If you've got the cash to blow and the space issue is a big one, I definitely recommend it, but the SQ just doesn't compare to an A/B class 4 channel. Kudos to Alpine for trying a D class spkr amp tho.

You could just use them for your sub amps and keep using your old 4 channel.

Nu the Memphis amp is really not that good of an amp. I really like my Mmatts 1400.2 thus mine is 13** watts at 2 ohm. I have been happy with output and efficiency of the amp(I am pushing a single audioque 12.) I have not had to charge the batteries yet this year on my boat, but I generally don't play the music very load when sitting also. Generally I will see my voltage drop from about 14.3 to about 13.2 when playing a "bass" heavy song. BTW-an Mmatts 300HC, 1400 series old school amp is easy to find and very small.

Check out the new line of Rockford Power Series Amps. They are consume less current the the pdx amp and produce more power. They are about the same size and may cost a few dollars less. My .02

scott, the power series amps are bigger and do not draw any less current than the PDX, and do not produce any more power. Your post is completely false. The PDX are class D amps...the fosgate are still class A/B. By their very nature class D are much more effecient. While the fosgate may be an effecient class A/B. Your profile link is to an audio shop...I sure hope your not an owner/installer. I've met to many that haev no clue what their talking about other thanthe marketing garbage they read in the info packet that comes with the amps.

Next your probably going to tell us how great memphis amps are

Got everythign back in working order by the weekend. I ran for a little over 10 hours straight at about 65-70% volume, the amps nvere even came close to overheating. It wasn't very hot outside...maybe 90-95 degrees. The mmats amp was barely even warm..and runnig a 1 ohm load. I had my golf cart batteries hooked up to a 10 am charger all day.

I am running 3 150's (stacked) and a 1000 for the sub.

I like the sound/power and they don't get too hot - we're talking out at Lake Mead type of heat too!
