need help picking a lens

I need a lens that is great for both wakeboarding and football. I'm trying to decide between a 18-200 http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langI d=-1&productId=11040385

please help me make a decision. Also what kind of lens hood should i get for theses 2 activities?

Lens speed and length is critical for shooting football especially if you're shooting at night or late afternoon/evening shade. Since either of those will work for wakeboarding on a crop sensor I'd say you'd need the 75-300 since it's longer and a bit faster. The lens should come with a hood.

That sounds like 2 lenses to me. Football is all about the long range shot most of the time (look at those huge lenses at the pro games). Wakeboarding you probably don't need anything more than 150mm or so.

If I had to choose 1 lens though to do them both I would get a the 70-200/f2.8. (although 200mm may still be a little short for football)

both lens' are very slow so you are going to have a tough time getting any good shots at night without upping your ISO through the roof. but i would say get the 75-300 esspecially if you have another lens that covers shorter focal lengths. you really have no reason for the 18-200 if you have a shorter lens
