Somebody please tell me the difference between a regular BR and a mexican BR. I'm finally learning some inverts, but all I hear is make sure your doing a BR and not a mexican BR.

You make the rotation by throwing your head instead of letting the wake rotate you. I think this is right.

Progressive backroll - reverse cartwheel rotation

Mexican backroll - throw head down like a front flip on a trampoline after riding up the wake.

backroll, the style or roll for a roll with a front side rotation(roll 2 revert, mobe)

Mexi backroll, great for backside rotation (roll 2 blind, kgb...)

When we are doing backroll on a cable, is that a mexican backroll instead of "normal" backroll? There is no wake there.

Sorry for the question, I know the "cable guys" are few in this forum, but I am one of them...

Ok the reverse cartwheel makes sense. Is there a certain way to practice backrolls on a trampoline?

georgi,

the backroll on cable is the perfect backroll, a mexican probably wouldn't work too well.
on cable when you backroll you cut away from the cable and follow it round (i.e. the board does the work), rather than a mexican you thro' your head down towards your back leg without much 'cut away' with the board (tho there can be a little bit!) this trick is thrown more with your head

Thanks Harry! Now I think I understand what Mexi Backroll is...

Georgi,

If you want to do a back role off the flat on the cable, think of making your cut like a "C" shape you dont need to cut for to long or as hard as a raley. A role to revert me be easier for you to learn if you have a problem getting height of the flat as it is a more natural rotation (just let go with ur front hand) and it means for edge free practice attempts.

Hope this helps.

I think the whole concept of a mexi-backroll is stupid. A backroll is a stinking backroll no matter how you disect it...if people can't even tell the difference, what's the freaking point?

The difference is obvious though to most people. I guess it really comes down to proper technique. I think turning a mexican roll into a R2R is much harder than if you have a normal or "progressive" backroll.

Yeah, the same people who came up with the Tindy grab.

I think the mexi roll looks better, and at my camp its the only backroll I teach.

Tings - nothing.

I heard if you grab the fins while doing a tindy grab, it's called findy.

"A backroll is a stinking backroll no matter how you disect it"

It's so different.

The Mexi roll looks more like a heelside front roll. I never understood how people could even call it a backroll. There's nothing "back" about it.

Agree to disagree?

Hey, did you hear about the new findy grab?

What a let down, Mike. The one guy that agreed with me and you back out just like that. I swear, you can't trust anyone these days.

Yes, I knew you what you meant the first time.

you do rotate backwards on a mexi roll its just on another axis ..a regualr backroll done big and correct is done way out the back over your back shoulder and you rotate away from the boat.you feel a snap.

My mexy rolls are done by dropping my back shoulder before i look over my back shoulder and then more off my back foot, with more slack and no snap ...

so the rotation is on axis around the rope handle like a loopy looking rotation almost on axis to a fault..

ive see mine on video a lot and it doesnt look like a front at all but if your not paying attention i see how it could but really i go backwards and its obvious in videos..

Just weird looking and im not proud mine have morpghed into mexi rolls trhe last few years
