Am i Going too slow?? 17.8MPH??

Normally we just set the perfect pass to 17.8, the wake is clean but i feel like everybody else goes faster, is it because my boat simply can go that slow or am i doing something wrong look at this pic and tell me if you have any suggestions. Thanks, Colin

You can ride as slow or as fast as you like. Going as slow as possible without washing out the wake creates the largest wake. Extra speed makes edging more effortless. It's a trade-off. FWIW, I think your Perfect Pass might need to be calibrated. That wake looks like you're probably going faster than 17.8. If anyone you know has a hand-held GPS unit, you might want to take it out with you and check.

I love it. Get a 50k boat for making good grades and don't know how fast to tow.

Sorry, had to do it. And before it comes out, yes I'm jealous and I would've done better in school with that incentive.

The minimum we tow anyone (even girls) is 21mph. Most ride at 22.5, I ride at 23 because I am a bit heavier and like to ride on a longer rope length. As you go quicker the wake get narrower & the wake gets harder. Go as fast as you can & still feel comfortable and ride on the longest rope you can easily go wake to wake on is my advise.

Borrow a hand held GPS and check your speed with that. I think they sent the perfect pass to the speedo at the factory so they may both be off.

This is way off topic but just curious do you have freshwater cooling?

Yeah I remember when he got the boat he mentioned it's got a closed cooling system.

Ride hard and fast 26 or 27

My instructor taught me that it can be easier going a little faster, but then slow the boat down a bit and see if you can still do the trick at the lower speed. Its a little more challenging but will improve your form.

18 mph is way too slow. you should try picking up the speed to 21 or so and maybe let out a little rope

Hey buddy there is no way your accually going 17 mph and getting the wake unless your rope is like 4 feet long. You most certainly need to adjust your perf pass. Or speed up and lengthen your rope. Even just riding around should be hard at that speed.

Since we can't see any loops on the rope he might be riding at 60' or less, if there are a couple people in the bow and no weight in the tanks he could be riding very close to 18mph. Notice how early and how many following rollers are forming, it also trying to curl over in the 3rd pic, looks like 18mph to me.

Fill up those tanks, load up the boat with bodies, run the speed up to 22 or more and go do some flying.

Once you get the PP dialed in try riding @ 60' and work on your fundamentals. Maybe it's just a bad picture angle but your form is way off. Take the time to learn the fundamentals , it makes everything else so much easier.

Starting with a 138 Parks?? That board is made with a specific riding style in mind hard and fast. And from the pic you look like you could weigh at most 130lb that board is riding you. I would try to ask daddy to get board with a little more give.

yeah, ive recently discovered that buying the most expensive board is not always the best, im gonna sell this one, keep the bindings, and most likely get a premier my old obrien custom. Also my dads friend has one of greg necrassons old boards that hell be giving me, still deciding whether or not to ride it. How about some feedback or suggestions what type of board i should get?

Im sure we have been out there fighting over calm water before lol. What school do you go to? Im gonna take a random guess, gulliver?
