i might be getting my grandpa's 2003 f 250 extended cab when i get my license and am not sure if i will be able to fit the subs i want in it under the back bench, i want to put 2 kicker solobaric L7's in it, and need to know if they will fit or not

My friend has 2 subs under that seat, the box goes all the way to the front seats though... so sitting in the back is more like laying in the back but it looks good with amps mounted on top

kicker comp vr 10's in a down fire probox or a out fire probox. maybe even 12's will fit but not l7s the magnet is to big and you realy need about 1.25 cubic foot of air space min. .88 cubic feet.

would the comp vt 12's work, cause they are a shallow mount, my problem is the truck is about 350 miles away and i dont have any measurements of the back seats

if you have the bench seats in the front JL makes a sub enclosure that replaces the middle seat and it is still usable. Its pretty cool you don't even now its there. thats what I'm planning on getting

i do think that the comp 12s will work. i would def. try to get a down fire box. they will load up alot better than an out fire.

try www.proboxrocks.com or www.magnaform.com

Unless your just set on running 2 subs, Dubbe is right, And if it's captains chairs they also make a loaded enclosure(10")for the center storage or you can make your own pretty easy. I took mine apart and placed a 12" type S down firing. Could be a lot better with a free air sub since my enclosure isn't sealed. But I can still use the top portion for storage that way. I just wanted to use an existing sub I had laying around so I crammed the type S in it.

I used to have a 250 extended cab and ran into the same problem. I did not want to give up my front bench and still wanted to fit people in the back of the truck. What I did was have a box built that looked like the rear hump in the center of the floor of a car. This aloud the person in the center to straddle the box and did not affect either of the main rear seats in the truck. In essence when sitting back there it was theoretically like most sedans floor wise. The stereo shop who built mine was able to put an eclipse 12" in there and it sounded great.

Everyone is correct on the depth of the L7 being to deep. Look into the JL Audio 12TW5s. They will work and sounded great in the JL Audio Mustang (had 13s but the 12s should sound just as good).

They are thin and require hardly any air space. I think it is 549 and 649 for the 12 and the 13.5. Great technology.

There is some company that makes brackets that raise the back seat of a super duty 2" or so to make more room under the seat. I had made my own out of aluminum when i owned a super duty. that'll buy you a little room. not as invasive to your cabin space. Plus people wont be dragging their feet across your box/amps.

nik, do you know the name of the company?

I pulled the rear seat out of my '00 and re-drilled the seat bracket. It moved the seat forward about 1 1/2" or so,, allowing more room for the subs and amps. It's a little bit of a pain, but worth it.

I dont. sorry. ill look around and see what i can find. I had a friend that took some 1.5" or 2" square tubing, one piece on each side and welded tabs for the front bracket. ground it smooth and painted it flat black and it looked good. he had something like $11 invested with scraps from the steel yard and a can of krylon. food for thought... but, ill see if i can find em'.

brian, just curious, doesnt the front holes sit at an angle? If you moved it forward, how did you mount the front of the seat? If you can fab it up, you might be best off moving it up about an inch and forward about an inch. I dont have my super duty any more and cant really picture it.

My 2000 may be different?? It had bolts sticking up into a piece of box steel that made up the seat frame. I just drilled the 4 holes forward a bit and bolted it back up.
