Scott, the SB800 comes with the diffuser, which is something I almost always use on mine. They sure do make a difference.

I can see that the flash has a diffuser. Both of my Canon flashes have one as well. The Sto-Fen diffuser is still very noticeably better than any Canon or Nikon built-in diffuser. I leave one on my 580ex at all times.

I hate to speak on Joe's behalf, but this camera will be used in place of his old, aging D70. That camera served him well, but he's found that he wants more out of his equipment. So Joe's decided to pick up a camera with higher MP count so that he can fill up his hard drive faster, and with higher resolution images of blurry poopoo.

oh, and get a tripod and remote, you slacker!

They come with the diffuser mounted, like in the photo below, along with two light filters. As you can also see they come with the wide angle diffuser built in, and the 5th battery compartment to speed recycle time. It is a pretty nice flash setup. Just turn the camera on before the flash so they sync up correctly, then the camera can do a pretty good job.

Fisheye lens are a trip

The only way to wirelessly trigger a D200 is with pocket wizards and the $120 connecting cable. I bought mine off ebay right after someone sold his D2X, for less, in brand new condition. My pocket wizards Plus II's came from "ahmuay" on ebay for $330 shipped, which is not bad. Don't be like these fools, and over pay like they did for an old product.

FWIW Costco was selling 1 TB HD's for a reasonable cost, but swear I saw one in the store for $3?? something.

i was told that there's a HUGE difference between the 80-200vr and the 70-200vr...like night and day, with the 70-200vr being THAT much better.

The 70-200mm is supposed to be a great lens and it better be considering the $1600 price they are commanding. It was one of the lens I researched, but there is no way it would be on my camera when backpacking or hiking, as it is BIG. Looking forward to seeing the pictures you produce with it Joe.

David, yes that is the one I saw at Costco and was thinking for someone needing to mirror their hard drives it would be a decent way to go. Everyone with anything of value on their hard drives should mirror them, or back up in some form. HD's fail way to often.

Good choice...Love my D200 Canon's are nice but the D200 is one of the best DSLRs ever made IMHO. Plus I prefer feel and ergo of the D200 over the 5D. I do wish it had a little less noise at high ISO but I rarely shoot over 400 so it does not matter. The 8GB card size is great as you get about 450 or 480 or so raw shots on it.

I love my 10.5 fisheye. Sometimes it is the only way to get the entire picture when you are close to something really big. Here is one of the brink of lower yellowstone falls I took a week or two ago

Another lens (it's only $800 or so) to consider is the 18-200VR. Although it is a somewhat slow, sunny day lens that some of the purist scoff at, it is a fantastic lens if you only want to take one lens.

That Nikkor 50 is a clean looking little lens compared to Canon's but they are both the bargain of the century, if you get a chance Joe post up a shot from it at f1.8.

Love the fisheye. It is actually pretty good for center crops. Here is a center crop from the 4th using the fisheye.

My 50mm is so so sharp at 1.8 but sharpens up considerably by 2.8

Another lens to consider is the 18-200VR Although other lenses may be better at one thing or another, for a only want to bring one lens situation, it is hard to beat. Here is a night shot from Colter Bay

Nikon teleconverters are far superior to any other off brand TC's Rich.
Nikon cameras and lenses can be used for wakeboarding/wakeskating and female model
photographs. Not like some other brand.

At $400+ for a Nikon and $97 for a Kenko they sure ought to be better!

I've found Kenko to be at about 90%-95% quality wise of the Canons depending on the lens. I'd sure want to give the Kenko a roll before dropping that kind of $.

I usually process model photographs with only minimal necessary editing to keep things real.

I have the same TC & another sharper Kenco DG digital version from overseas . All TC's degrade the image, however Nikon TC's degrade the least imho.
For commercial/mag work its better, to have a larger lens without any TC's if possible.
The TC's are fine for personal /web use.
Looking for a wider nikon lens if anybody has one available. 10mm+ 2.8 nikon
Maybe a trade for the 80-200 2.8 & Kenko TC's
