Anyone know what oil filter fits on a 1990 PCM 351?

Also, does anyone know if this impeller:
http://skidim.com/prodinfo.asp?number=RP061015

is the same as any of these sold at Overtons:
http://overtons.com/modperl/product/search.cgi?str=impeller&r=search

Just curious becasue I have a gift card to Overtons I need to use. I am going to pick up my boat at my parents house next weekend which is kind of in the middle of nowhere so I want to have the stuff I need to do the oil change and impeller swap when I get there. Thanks.

The filter is a Ford FL1A.

As to the impeller, you can get the factory part number then use a chart to cross reference it.

Edit: Sherwood probably makes the pump. If I remember correctly the part number on the pump will help determine it. I then took a black marker and wrote it on the pump for the next time.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I will probably just change the oil and use it next weekend and then change the impeller the week after that when I have it at my house.

How often should you change the impeller? My boat is 2006 Mobius lsv with 90 hours and to the best of my knowledge it has never been changed.

Paul, impeller changing is a maintenance issue. How long until it burns up and ruins you weekend is anyones guess. There are many things to look at. If you run the hell out of it, it will wear. If you let it sit for too long it may dry out. Some last longer then others.

I change mine every season. I probably put 120-180 hours a season.

It's your call. But remember, piece of mind is worth a pretty penny and then some.

Can I do it myself? If so where can I purchase one, and is it easy to change.

It's super easy. Most the maintenance on a boat is easy. Go to you local dealer and get the part. Be prepared to give them you info. Year of boat, powerplant and what your looking for. DD's are wide open. V-drives you'll have to develop a process to get at the pump. I did Magnus's last year and we had to remove the compartment walls and disconnect the the fuel filter or ballest pumps. I dont remember. By disconnect I mean just removing the bracket bolts. This was to get the pump out of the engine compartment.

You're a smart guy you can figure it out. Be sure to keep the old impeller as a spare...unless its toast. And be sure to keep it in the boat with the tools you used to get it out.

Remember, the first time is always a b!tch. The next time, when you need it in a pinch, you'll know exactly what to do.
