As mentioned previously, leaking sacs suck. Have any of u used a combo of lead weighting and water ballast systems. I have a 94 MC prostar 205 (rear seat comes out) and I'm thinking of putting down some lead 4-600lbs and then just use a 500lb or so sac and desing a new seat like the ones in newer models. I think the seat/sofa style water ballasts are awesome for max weight but leaks ect... SUCK. Any ideas and suggestions? The wake we had w/ 1200lbs rear/550 front has been great so I would like to stay in that range.

Be very careful with dead weight. Water is neutrally buoyant when swamped. Lead, concrete, iron, sand, etc. will bring your boat to the bottom fast. Lead is usable, but keep it below about 350 lbs for the 20-22' boat range.

I do have sacks that are much tougher than most. They are made of the same material that some liferafts and inflatable boats are made of. The material is coated woven nylon and is very thick. Anything can be cut or punctured, but it would have to be something serious or deliberate to get through this material.

FYI - I was a USCG Officer and was an Investigating Officer for many sinkings. My advice on dead weight has a bit of science and experience behind it.

dont forget a disadvantage of using lead is that when you tow your boat to the lake you have to tow with all of that extra weight. that is why i like to us ballast more.
