a better question for you would be "are you good enough to ride a roam?"

my last 6 or 7 sets have been on a roam, and I had a great time, without even hitting the wake once.

My last 2 sets were on the roam and my crew was saying that I was going just as big on the roam as I was on my wakeboard.Plus I threw all my tricks and grabs on it as well. It's weird but it's so slippery that if you even let off a little on your cut,you are slipping out.I had a great 1st set but the 2nd I discovered that the inserts ripped out.I got served on that run! That DS2 video inspired me to try to ride it like my wakeboard and I LOVE IT! I'm getting one and throwing my byerly binding on it and it comes with me ALL the time.

I finally got to ride my new one last weekend and it is definately fun. Lot easier than the first shape to ride and hitting the wake I was doing just as good as well. But no need to even hit the wake and still have fun for sure.

We bought an 05 roam a year ago to share amongst the crew as a secondary board. Found riders either really love it or are not fussed with it. I'm not sure that I agree with some posts that say you need to be a good rider to enjoy the Roam, I've found it amazingly forgiving, and great for building confidence doing surface tricks and just having fun. I find the Roam easier to ride (less tiring) in slightly choppy water, perhaps the flex absorbs some of the energy and it's also very light, again some posters think the Roam is crap in chop. I can get away with doing power slides in crappy water that I'd definitely get a back slap if I used a regular board and slide away from some pretty sketchy landings. If you're feeling a bit stale and not progressing then a Roam can really inject some fun into your riding.

Roam is worth every penny spent and then some. GREAT 2nd and always a staple on any session. I wouldn't agree that it's easy to ride or forgiving-not for a fresh fish. An experienced rider, maybe, but not for someone who doesn't understand and apply the basics of riding. Get it, ride it, and you will enjoy it to the fullest.

Travis, just what I said....the inserts ripped out. I took the binding off and discovered that the inserts came out like half an inch up and took the fiberglass and the top sheet with it but the inserts didn't pull all the way out.

It rocks!!! I can land everything on it that I do on my fish, although if you don't land on edge on say a ts front it will feel slippery. Wicked for spinning as it feels more like a snowboard and it is super light even flex's a bit when you grab hard. It really makes you load up the line and improves your regular riding. Do it!!

Big Ed, I'm confused about the inserts too... are you talking about the screws that attach the bindings to the board? Or some sort of binding "insert"?

It is a wooden board (core) with a fiberglass topsheet and base. The inserts are where your binding screws go into the board, the are "inserted" in to the board to accomodate the binding screws. Every board has inserts built into them.

the roam is the sickest. i'll ride it 20:1 over my shane or premier. and feel way more comfortable on it than any finned board. i have the 05 the 06 and am going to snag the covenant the second it hits shops. Projects Pat is a god on the roam. go buy Genetics or Such is life to give you an idea of what is possible with these presses. its sick.
