sooooo i saw it today over here at the dealer meeting. its a sick looking boat. great lines. tige figured out how to design a bimini also hahahaha. its very easy to put up and pull out. the price is also very good. for one thats fully loaded(ballast, 4 tower speakers, tower lights, speed set, stainless steal package, you know everything). they are going for 52k. and thats wiht everything on it. tige called it the pimped out model lol. one with no extras besides a tower is going for 39,999. so depending on how what extra's you add to it the price would be between there somewhere. if your in the market for a new boat you really need to go check ont of these out when your local dealer gets some for stock. i haven't boarded or driven behind one yet but i'll get a chance to do that tomorrow. i got some pics of the boat but wont be able to post them antill i get home.

I stopped by my dealer, WWS in Denver (Bill Bistline), and they were down at the dealer's meeting. The mechanic that was left behind said that they had gotten to see the boat today and thought that it was going to be a hot item for the next year. I can't wait to see some pics!

I saw 2 sweet looking boats in shrink wrapped driving down towards Dallas and I think they might be the new line of Tige's . I got pic's and will post later!

Ballast?
Old     (timmyb)      Join Date: Apr 2007       09-20-2007, 9:54 PM Reply
Tige is never going to push ballast for 1 ridiculous reason.... customer complaints. I heard that the #1 problem on Wakeboard boats is the ballast system not working correctly. Tige figures if they don't push the ballast, they won't sell it and therefore it can't break and then customers can't complain about it. We all know that the boats need it, but if you think about it from their standpoint it is a good business decision. If a boat isn't coming in for service, it's not costing the dealer/mfr money to fix it. I see their point but wish that my boat had factory ballast at the same time....just have to settle for aftermarket I guess.

Well, I'm glad its going for $39,999, because $40K would be way too much for that boat...
Old     (26lacefield)      Join Date: Aug 2006       09-21-2007, 5:17 AM Reply
the ballast isn't a standard option. the front weight is a soft sack that goes under the front seats. the rear weight is hard tanks. they're in the storage not behind the motor like in the RZ's. there isn't enough room behind the motor to put them back there. one thing that i'm going to suggest in the meetings today is too pull those hard tanks out and put soft sacks in there. if i got one of those with ballast the first thing i would do would be to switch the hard tanks with the soft sacks. and then wire/plum some other sacks into it and add some more lead so it would be around 2500lbs. but i can't wait to ride behind it today. the boat that i'll ride on will have the factory ballast and a bunch of the head factory guys in it so hopefully it'll be pretty good.

Is the Z1 a picklefork?
Old     (dabell)      Join Date: Apr 2007       09-21-2007, 8:53 AM Reply
No, the RZ1 will not be a picklefork. However, the transome is what will be a major change compared to other tige's.... That looks like a different Convex V hull though.... hummmmmmmmm

This is there "top secret" boat that next week you will see something on it. The tigeowners.com website has comments about it but these are the first pictures that I have seen.

lol damn they did a great job on shrink wraping those boats. they really didn't want anyone to get a glimps of them. the main thing that i'm waiting to do is to drive them tomorrow. tige brought in a x-star, a natique 220, and a Malibu V-Ride for the dealers to look at, drive and compare with this new Z1. i know that at my paretns dealership we aren't even going to order any 20v's for stock. the the same price you could get a Z1 with all the same options. hopefully they'll put pics of the boat on the site and also put it under build your boat so us dealers can figure out what colors to order. hahaha theres nothing worse than ordering a ugly boat.
Old     (dabell)      Join Date: Apr 2007       09-21-2007, 10:41 AM Reply
I thought that they dealers were already allotted 4 Z1 boats each. Has that changed????

Timmy, you are right. No on can complain about ballast if the boat doesn't come with it. On the flip side, I won't get the chance because I would never buy a boat that did not offer some type of factory ballast. So in one sense its good to avoid customer dissatisfaction, on the other hand it completely removes a large group of people that would have bought their boat if they offered the ballast the boat needs. Why don't they offer it as an option? I like the Tige boats but hate having to still stack sacs everywhere. Bush league my friend, bush league.
Old     (dabell)      Join Date: Apr 2007       09-21-2007, 12:44 PM Reply
Tige does offer the ballast as an option. But, it's an option not a standard feature. Tige has always done this.
Old     (timmyb)      Join Date: Apr 2007       09-21-2007, 1:01 PM Reply
Shouldn't Tige have brought in an X-30 instead of an X-Star? I don't know the models of CC's boats but pretty sure a 220 isn't the right comparison...
Old     (05mobiuslsv)      Join Date: Apr 2006       09-21-2007, 1:19 PM Reply
If those boats are really the one's they are bringing it just shows how stupid they are.
Old     (ron_mexico)      Join Date: Jul 2007       09-21-2007, 1:45 PM Reply
QUITE BOLD NU BU. i would say the rz2 matches up to the xstar quite well in the marketplace considering they are both 22ft picklefork designs and the their new boat (21ft v drive) competes quite well with a v ride (if it is infact a price sensitive boat). The 220 nautique splits the difference with the two and is a very quality built boat to have on hand for comparison at a dealer meeting. I don't know how you do it with your boat company's dealer meeting, but i think tige probably made an educated decision in their effort. IMHO
Old     (nwsjake10)      Join Date: Feb 2007       09-21-2007, 1:52 PM Reply
timmy,
i dont know if they should have brought the x30..if anything it should be the x-15...that is MC's 21fter..the x-star is probably not a good comparison as you said..but i don't think the 30 would be good either..since its a whole 2 feet bigger
Old     (jon4pres)      Join Date: May 2004       09-21-2007, 1:56 PM Reply
If this is for their dealers meeting surely they are going to have their entire line there. I would say the v-ride will compare with the z1. the 220 with the 22ve adn the x-star with the rz2.
Old     (wakereviews)      Join Date: Sep 2006       09-21-2007, 1:56 PM Reply
it is possible that those were the only boats they could get a hold of and it's also possible taht they wanted to compare it to different boats at different price levels b/c they feel their new model competes with higher priced boats. Certainly bringing in 15 boats for their dealers to test makes no sense. Calling them stupid without knowing their intentions seems... well...
Old     (timmyb)      Join Date: Apr 2007       09-21-2007, 2:01 PM Reply

Read his post again. Tige is comparing the X-star, CC 220, and V-ride to this new Z1. Does that seem really sane there Ron Mexico? I can see them comparing the V-ride to the Z1 but an x-star please.
Old     (dabell)      Join Date: Apr 2007       09-21-2007, 2:17 PM Reply
Okay, how about they are going to compare the various other 21 foot boats to the z1... Apparently the other manufacturers are not living up to the new standards Tige is setting.

he he he

jon makes the point, which i guess i failed to imply... i am sure that tige is taking THEIR entire line to THEIR meeting. after all it is the TIGE DEALER MEETING. so with that said. the competitors boats are their to compare to more than the z1. i am not going to get into flame throwing. i feel i have made my point.

MALIBU RULES!!! (that should get me outta this one safely)

they brought in the v-ride to compare it with the z1. i think they brought the 220 and the x-star jsut for the dealers to drive and get to know more about them. being that those 2 are some of the bigger boat lines out there.

Where are the 56 cup holders! No room for bling on the inside ie: LED's, speakers (aside from the bow)I assume they are close to floor in the seat bases. Love the look, I think the hull has great lines and I love the new drivers sear, but I'm not sure about the closed sides in the seating area or the split engine cover.

That black and grey boat look amazing. The U of M boat takes a die hard fan to love.

First thoughts:
* The bow shape is interesting, it looks to be a little squared off. I like the reclined seats in mine better.

* Not sure if it is the graphics or if the hull really has the detailed lines in the bow area, but it looks nice.

* It looks like a two piece engine cover with no walk through like the RZ models, interesting.

Nuwty the cup holders, speakers, and LED lights are down by the floor. sorry i didn't have any shots of the inside of the boat but i belive theres about 12 cup holders and 4 speakers and a sub in the bakc of the boat and 2 speakers up front.

ooo yeah and Nuwty why do u need a spot to put your beer shouldn't there be one in your hand at all times. hahahaha. and GettingOlder i think the Wetsounds look great. the way the the speakers are designed it so that the speakers push the sound out toward the rider. they say that with only 2 of those speakers you will be able to hear your music on an 80 foot line.

At the risk of being in the minority I agree with you magellan. I know they sound great and are well built, but not a fan of them (looks wise).

Ryan I assumed they had an alternate area for those things. I guess I'm always used to seeing the area on the sides to tuck things away. I like the fact that Tige keeps coming up with new ideas (or a new spin on old ideas), keeping other builders looking over their shoulders.
Good for the industry.
I really like the new rz line.
That being said I'll take the gray and black one. 39,000 you said?

I agree with you thomas. The dealer here in Oregon orders them w/o towers and has samson towers build a custom line for Tige. They look sweet!!

Ryan, Good point, although power turns prove difficult with a beer in your hand.

Newty the grey and black one is the one that they brought thats the "well equipt" one. the only things it doesn't have is ballast, 2 more tower speakers, tower lights, and transome remote. and i believe its around 45k. the one thats 39k is bear stock, small motor, tandome trailer, and a new cheep looking tower.

i'm not totally sure what the beam is. i know the based the mold off of the 20v but i believe that they said its a little wider than the 20v which is 96in. beam so i'm guessing its around 98 or so. i'll try to get some good pics of the wake tomorrow when i'm riding it.

sorry i didn't get any pics of the wake today when i rode in it and drove it. i think one of the other guys in the boat did so maybe he'll post them. the water was pretty rough so i could get a real test of the wake but it seemed nice. it wasn't quite as wide as the 22ve because of the 100inch beam. the wake was solid. when i'd hit it it gave a good pop and didn't let me blow thru it. as far as the handeling of the boat goes it was a very nice boat to drive. in the rough water it took the chop very well. handled great. got up on plain very quick too. when i boarded the ballast was full which i believe was 650 and there was 7 full grown men in the boat. it didn't hesitate to get onto plain. i'm really impressed by this boat. it only took them 1 year to develope this thing and its a great boat. another thing that they are changing for the 08's is the vinyl. they switched venders and its now the same stuff that Malibu is using.

To all the people who don't like the looks of the wetsounds:

The egg-like shape of the speaker enclosure was tested and proven to give off the best sound. I don't know the engineering behind it, but there was a discussion on speaker enclosure shapes on here a year back.

Also, the brackets on the wetsounds are amazing. They are super strong, lock down to the tower with no slipping, are universal to almost any size tubing, and are a quick release system.

So before you go bashing something for the way it looks, you might want to think about the engineering and practicality behind it.

looks pretty good on website--the 24ve rated for 16 people, the 22ve $ rz2 are 14? so hopefully this is 12 or 13... ?

If this is really $45k, moomba's out of business!
