In my 02 Supra SSV my front ballast will fill up but will not empty. Does this mean the front empty pump is dead? Where is this pump anyway?

There is a pump right at the sac but I assume it is the fill pump because it was working to fill the sac. By the way should the front pump connect to the top or bottom hole?

On my 05 the pump up front is to empty and connects to the bottom of the bag. All three bags are filled with one pump at the through hull connection. The sprinkler valves and rocker switches determine which bag fills and emptys.

Aaron Ware is correct. The pump at the bag is for emptying and should be on the bottom of the bag. When you turn on the empty switch does the pump at the bag make a sound? If not check the fuse under the dash and all electrical connections. If all of these are good you may need to replace the pump. If the pump does turn on but doesn't empty, make sure the empty ballast tube isn't clogged and make sure the pump is being primed. To get it primed the bag will need to be almost completely full or have all of the water in the bag to be pushed towards the pump. You can also put a shop vac on the empty port on the hull with the pump on and it should prime it.

I have the same issue with my bag all the time in my 01 ssv. i always just run the fill til its completely full before turning on the drain, and that usually primes it enough to get a nice emptying stream

Does it work for draining the bag sometimes, or is it always dead? We've seen this problem on quite a few Supra and Moomba boats, but typically it's because the drain pump isn't connected directly to the bag.

Aaron is correct though, the pump closest to the bag (and connected to the bottom port) will be the drain pump. The fill pump is back near the transmission and v-drive.

The first thing to check would be proper operation of the drain pump. The easiest way to do that is to take it out of the bag, and then look into the end to see if the aerator moves when you turn on the drain switch.
