How Much Can an X-2 Take?

Last night we had my X2 pretty much maxed out (I think). I calculated 2585 lbs plus 5 people, and 2 Hyperlite boards. At 90' and 25.4 the wake just started to curl (more so on the port side wake which always seems to be a tad steeper). I'm wondering what I can do to clean it up, or if this is just the result of maxing out the boat. Or, do I need to move weight around. The front is already slammed. Just backing off the throttle dipped the nose in good conditions!

I was thinking about moving most of the lead to the cockpit area instead of storing lead in the very front and in the back storage by the hard tanks. The problem was, when we lightened up the back, the nose dipped even lower to the point where Evan was laughing.

Too much weight? Or weight in the wrong places?

nose: 75
front cushions: 150 each side = 300
walk though: 500
Stock center ballast: 400
On the floor: 250 sac
in cockpit: 260 lead
in back: 500 hard tanks
in back: 150 each side = 300

I don't think it will get bigger Allen, but I think we can make it cleaner where you ride.

Can't count the gas as ballast, as Evan said it is only onboard for a short time

Word of caution though, with that much lead you loose your neutral buoyancy and your boat will go to the bottom. The fact that your bow is dipping that low and taking on water is a BIG red flag warning.

We put 2200 in the V210 and the wake was just stupid also, but the gas gauge seamed to work like a tach gauge went down very fast. At least it helps when every one pitches in.

We were out the other day, we had 450 lbs in the bow, the center sack filled and eight people in the boat. The wake was freaken crazy big. Nobody wanted me to fill the back tanks. I can't imagine the wake you were throwing out there.

we've had 3000 pounds of fat sacs and 12 people in a 2001 Super Air 210 before... Took the whole bayou almost to get on plane... As the wakeboarder you had to be drug for 20 hards just to get enough speed to stand up. when the boat stopped it damn near had to be bailed out from all the water that came rushing in. Needless to say it was an '01 and had 3 engion changes by '05, it was also all salt water.
Oh yea... the wake was a MONSTER but clean at 25mph.

jrod, to me the solution in these types of situation is go to the old one foot rope extensions....meaning try riding at 88-89 ft. (you get the point)

or, you could be satisfied with "big enough" if there is such a thing.

If getting out of the hole isnt an issue add weight. Dont have more than a 1000lbs in hard weight though. That wake(205 hull) can be cleaned up no matter what. just move some hard weight around. But you will have to go faster. to clean up that one side of the wake move some hard weight to the not so step side until its clean and even. I run 2500lbs at 27 miles an hour with an 80 ft rope and its sweet. Still drives good, But my boat is direct drive. They handle better anyway.

The most we ever had in mine was at Wakefest in 2003. There were 14 people in the boat, factory ballast, a 600lbs sack in each rear locker filled with as much water as we could get back there, another 6 on the floor, and another 6 in the front. All in all I estimate total weight with people and ballast around 4500lbs. It was evenly weighted, we rode at about 85 or 90 and 25mph. The key is to not over weight the back. 60/40 back to front when only a couple people. As the people load up adjust.

I don't have a pic of it when we were riding but I have one after we let a couple people into another boat.

Here's one that I like. Factory ballas, people, and I think about 150lbs in each rear locker. I'm 6 foot if that helps for sizing up the wake.

Does anyone else use the Fly High Bow Triangle? With that, v-drive sacs, ski locker sac and some fat kids I am pretty happy. I may look at one more sac to put on top of the ski locker we will see.

Jrod - this weekend we ran -

160 under the front cushion
160 under the right front
160 under the lefdt front
All in lead

400 lbs fly high sacks in the rear = nearly 800lbs total for v drive

and - a 500 sack in the cockpit lenghtwise behind driver seat.

That makes 1780 lbs of added ballast. Plus stock - which makes it around 2500 or so.. i Think. Which was what i would call -- TOO DAMN MUCH for the boat. But hey, the wake was sick.

We also had a couple people, big boy sitting in the bow, and 3 more in the cockpit.

The wake was B--I--G ---

I have ridden all the boats, and I can say, this was huge, and clean at 24 - 80. biggest i have really ever ridden. I was talking about it for an hour, and glowing like a virgin on prom night.

It was really, really, hard to drive though. Buddy who wasnt as experienced with driving dunked the nose.. TWICE.. but when i got in, it just took a liitle getting used to. I think the trick to getting that vert and nasty lip at the top was the 500 lb sack in the rear of the cockpit, once we added that, the wake was unreal. But make sure to keep that weight in the front so the boat plains off ok.
