I had posted another thread about wakesurfing behind our 04 X-Star, we just couldn't do it and we thought we didn't have enough weight. Well, one day we played around with the ballast, port side full (250 lbs.), KGB full (250 lbs.) and the starboard side 3/4 of the way full (187.50 lbs.) We had only three people in the boat and drove straight. We also had some small wakesurf boards to work with. The Liquid Force skimskate (54")and a fish surfboard. Anyway, to make a long story short, it was all a matter of foot placement on the board. Once we figured that out, we were wakesurfing non stop. So you don't need lead or a fat sac to do it although it might be nice to make the wake bigger for more tricks. Hope this helps anyone having problems like we were.

Congratulations on your success! Once everyone gets acclimated to their stance and board, you'll be adding ballast to make it killer.

I'm sure everyone involved is pleased that you got things to work out and thanks for letting us know!

Rachel--Bear in mind, when you change the wake shape/size, or board later, you may have to adjust your stance as well...FYI

Ok we went out for the first ime in my Pro V had the balast full 300lbs of weight in the left ski locker 1 person sitting ontop of the ski locker and the other 3 people witting on the left side of the boat. The wake was about 4 feet high with a nice curl, I could only surf without the rope for about 15 seconds what was I doing wrongZ? My back foot is near the end of the back of the board, my front foot is 3 feet from the front, am I back to far?

Hey Daniel, in a word: Yes.

The "3 feet from the front" reference doesn't help us much unless we know the length of the board. If it's 4'6" you're definately too far back, if it's an 11 footer...

Check this thread out:

I would try moving your feet forward first...just sort of scoot them forward until you bury the nose or feel the board take off. My guess is that you are too far back on the board.

Keep us posted on how it goes! and GOOD LUCK.
