i bought a prostar used last week. took it out and its got a vibration when you take off and turn around to pick someone up. is that the damper plate the shaft or the prop. how do i know which to fix? I also heard it could be the shaft packing? help me out if you guys can. im in hawaii and i have to do the repairs myself.

Hawaii?? if you pay for my air ticket I'll go check it in person to give you a more accurate diagnose. I'll fix it up and I could even drive you a few pulls. what do you think?

Jason, just kidding, do you feel the vibration comes from the engine or from the propeller/shaft?
It could be a bent blade, if it where the shaft you would feel it all the time. It could be bad timing or even a bad carburetor tune up.

I own a '93. Origional prop is a 4 blade. Sounds like bad prop. New boat to you i would start with the cheepest. Take off the prop and have it checked or just buy a new one, always have a spare.

Depends....we use a four blade at our local lake, because its not that deep. But when we go on vacation, we use a three blade because the lake is dep. Both wakes are different. Its all up to you. Check with ACME they hasd the best price.
