I don't want to spend a whole bunch of money on a tower, so I was looking at the cheaper Pylons. Is it pretty easy to put a pylon on a Runabout if there is no mount already there? Can you put one on with out the poles coming out towards the back corners? If you have any information regarding this please let me know.

I installed a pylon on my runabout (19ft Stingray 190LX 4.3L EFI)
It wasn't too difficult, just make sure you know where the gas tank is if it's under the floor when you mount the base plate.

The brand I used (AIRBOOM) does have the 2 poles going to the corner of the boat.
I mounted my baseplate just behind the ski locker almost in the center of the boat, the support poles are 45 degrees out and down and I mounted them in the corner of the rear seats (nice little cubby for the clevis pins)

I would reccomend the support poles, when it's setup it's super tight, no rattles at all!
I did see somewhere a company that used tension cables to the back corner of the boats, but I don't have any personal experience with those.
Either way, there has to be some lateral support for the pylon.

Beyond a pylon, I put a fat sac in the rear (550lbs) and a Tube Sac + jugs of sand in the bow (600lbs) That seems to be the best setup.

Also the prop is very important, invest in a 5 blade stainless steel (Merc Hi-Five) Best thing I ever bought for the boat! (I use a 21 pitch) Just that alone was like upgrading from a crappy sedan to a sports car!
