Anyone have problems with the sensors that drop down into the hard tanks?

Specifically what type of problems? Are the floats sticking on the way down/up, or are you getting intermittent signals with with gauges?

Gauges getting funky readings. Floats seem OK

Any corrosion on the wires - build up or rust on either connecting end?

All that I have seen is either from the floats getting stuck, or the wire connecting the sender on the tanks to the gauge has basically corroded/crapped out.

I have a similar problem. I took the tank out and then the sensor. There is a clear plastic tube that covers the PCA. On it there are a ton of reed switches that react to the float. On mine, the board was completely corroded. The way that it works, is that the reed switches close the circuit. Depending on how far down the chain it is, the resistance changes. If the corrosion has taken out some of the resistors and/or switches, the gauge will read wrong. I think they were about $60 from the dealers. I tried to clean mine to fix it. It helped it work for about a second. Gotta order a new one.

Here is a pic.

Wow, that is a STUPID sender design IMO.

From Brandons thread, if you want to purchase a new sensor:

It looks like all the plastic & aluminum housing sensors on that page are now superceded by a stainless housing version.
