Cold water gloves

Not sure where to post this one. Rode last weekend, 44 air/52 water and my hands were freezing. Regular ski gloves don't seem to help, as they just stay wet and cold. Rest of me was nice and warm, just the frozen digits. Any glove recommendations? Thanks!

I've used neoprene gloves although to get them warm enough, they are often too thick to hold onto the handle. I've also used dishawshing gloves. They grip well and do not breath whatsoever so all the heat gets trapped inside. Depending on how much time you spend in the water you can put a strip of hockey tape or duct tape around the wrist to keep the water out of them. You look absolutely goofy, but it keeps your hands pretty warm.

I use neoprene gloves also. I got them @ a scuba dive shop. The thickness does cause a bit of a grip problem sometimes. Better than frozen digits though.

I found some water-proof gloves for hunting that work great. They are very thin with little rubber bumps for grip. If you dunk your hand under water, it will come in through the wrist, but even then you still keep the wind chill off. I got mine at the local sporting goods store, Valley Sporting Goods and they were in the $20 range. I have used them two seasons and still going strong.

I have O'neill 2mm gloves right now that i used last winter to wakeboard. They are awesome since they keep your hands warm and the have a good grip on the handle and it isnt too thick where it makes it difficult or gets in your way to do your tricks. Try searching for some on Ebay since thats where i got mine new for $15 when they normally go for $28-35. I'd tried several, I like these gloves , because they are warm, and they have the pre grip built into them. Which really helps! Most other gloves , you can tell your forearms start cramping, just from bending the gloves. There called "Chota Neo/Fleece cold water gloves" Overtons is one place that has them. If you can dock start, dock finish and not fall in between , then you won't need em :-)

HO is making cold water gloves for '06. They're called the Element Glove and have 3mm neoprene backs with a fleece layer on the palms. I haven't ridden in them yet, but they feel like they'd be pretty warm.
