It was signed by Governor Jerry Brown today. It would take a little under four hours to go from San Francisco to San Diego with a top speed of 220mph. You gotta love this, the cost is expected to be between $68B and $118B. I think it would be great as I live south of SF and my sister lives in San Diego. I would also utilize it for work in Southern California.

It certainly has caused a lot of tension throughout the state but once it is completed (if it is ever completed) it would be pretty useful for me.

Here is the route: http://www.cahighspeedrail.ca.gov/trip_planner.aspx

What a horrible, misguided, waste of funds project this is. The state budget is completely falling apart, the state is getting re-development district and other fund back from local cities, school districts, etc., state employees are still doing furlough days and the state government is considering this? It's just unbelievable.

Californians deserve what's coming because we keep voting in idiots to state legislature. But, the future is NOT pretty.

They are doing the same thing in TX, but I think it will be funded privately.

Based on the lifetime of the system, what would they have to charge for a trip in order to pay for it before it all falls apart? I would guess thousands of dollars per user... but that doesn't matter I guess.

Just shows how out of touch, stupid or corrupt the state government is. I know I live here, but I'm still going to laugh when the state goes bankrupt. If you want to see the future of our country, look at California.

First off I am completely against the High Speed Rail. My father has spend thousands of dollars to fight it. He has been to most of the board meetings in the Gilroy and San Martin/Morgan Hill area to fight this. He lives in Morgan Hill and we have family businesses in San Martin and in Gilroy. The reasons to be against it are in the video link below. My father has done tons of research reguarding who is building it and who is installing it. Lets just say he knows more then the average citizen about the fine details of it.

Next time you are traveling along Hwy 101 and you see the big white and black "X" on the side of the freeway, neighborhoods and buisnesses or even across Hwy 152 by Casa De Fruita you will see them. It might even be in your back yard and have not been told what those big X means. You might be surprised how damn close it is going to be in neighborhoods.

California government is more corrupt than the mob. If you have enough money or a supposed "green" idea, you can get anything through any product. Just look at the inventor of the spring loaded spout for the gas can. It is mandatory now (several years ago) and it was supposed to stop evaporation of gas fumes. Turns out those things spill gas everywhere and do nothing. How much did the inventor make with that? Did I ever on this forum mention how much I hate environmentalist?

LOL, on the gas can. I used to have great cans with a vent and flexible spout. I could fill anything without spilling a drop. Then came the "spill-proof" cans with the rigid self-venting spout that spits out gas in bursts and spews it everywhere except in the fill hole. I'm sure there a good Dilbert cartoon in there.

LOL!

Back in the day when i was wakeboarding twice a day every day, I had a dozen gas cans that I would use to keep gas in the boats. All nice ones with the flex hose and yellow vent on the back. I gave most away through the years as I was sick of storing them. I was away from home a few months ago and needed to buy one for some project I was working on and it was one of the new ones. That thing sux!! Im thinking I could have made some money on craigslist selling all those I gave away. I have 4 of the old ones left and I hope they never crack.
