The 4 Channel Kenwood Amp in our boat fried tonight. We were waiting for it to go so we could replace it with a better quality amp. For all you stereo gurus out there any recommendations on a solid 4 channel amp that will be used to power interior speakers. Preferably one that won't break the bank

Before an intelligent reply can be made, we'll need to know what speakers you have....and how many. Also, the Head Unit brand and model is always good to know. Any processors or EQ's in the system?
Sorry to hear of the Kenwood demise.

Mike, I think you may have real time experience with the PDX4150 and is why you would recommend this unit. On paper however it is not something I would recommend. Class "D" full range with a full 1% THD at RMS power.

I have an Alpine head unit. Its 1 year old and i can get the actual name tomorrow. I'm Running just 4 Infinity reference 6.5's. No eq.

Entry level amp: Kicker ZX850.4, or the digital SX700.4 I am not a Kicker dealer but like the product for the price usually available.
If you want to step it up a bit, I am Zapco dealer and would push the Ref 350.2.
Each of the options above would deliver some 80-90 RMS watts to your speakers which is my recomendation.
Infinity Ref. 6.5's rated at 50 RMS 4 ohm.

Hey Duane,
I just bought two of the Alpine PDX 4.150's and one Alpine PDX 1.1000 for my boat. They are some of the smallest most efficient amps out there. I was able to put all three amps in under the glove box in my SAN and you can still open the clamshell and not even know they are there! They don't get hot either and sound great! Based on the load, I only need a dual battery setup too. The guy that did the install tested both 4.150 amps out at 174 and 171 rms on his bench thing. I don't know jack about stereos, but I think I will be happy. I have to find some interior speakers and get them installed and I will be set!

Anyone know what the significance of the ICEPower design on Alpine PDX 4.150 is?

I'm running the pdx600.1 (sub) and it's very small for the power, it gets warm but not scorching hot like most amps I've had int he past. I'm swithing amps to the mmats sq4160 for my tower, kinda pricey but get great reviews.

I have the Alpine PDX 4.150 and am still not sold on it. It has great clarity but doesn't seam to power the tower speakers as well as my old Kicker ZR240.2. With the Kicker amp we could hear the music great while riding but with the Alpine not so much. However, in the boat, the sound quality of the Alpine kicks as@ over the Kicker.

I'm almost sorry I commented.
If you've heard the exact system you want in another boat and said "Yeah, that's what I want" then great go for it.
To say that all Apline or any other amp manfacturer is like " UP' accross the boad then that's not well informed in my opinion.
Most signigicant manufaturers do a few things well. They don't do all things well or there would be little or no competition.
I'll end by saying that if you like what you've got, then great. If you don't, try and figure out what about it you don't like and progress to something better in that instance.
A full range Class "D" with 1% distortion will NEVER drive the mids and hi's in my ride.

Zapco Reference or Digital 1000.4 or Precision Power 4125.

Yeah...I think I'm going to switch the PDX 4.150 to only power the 4 Polk 6x9's in the boat and put the Kicker back in to power the Polk MOMO's on the Tower. Like I said, the Alpine's sound quality is awesome and I wouldn't hesitate to put it in my truck...I just don't think it cuts it on the boat.
