Hey all,
The original thread ( http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/281329.html?1143859903 )is archived, but I wanted to add a couple updates.

1) I have added 120lbs of lead to the very bow of the boat.
Upload
2) I run front and center ballast as full as possible ( + front lead + ~+50lbs of bow filler sub box).

3) I run rear bags ~2/3 full.

I snapped a sunset/wife picture using the mirror last night and turns out it's an OK picture of the wake, so I thought I'd post it. She was on a short line (~65-70'...trying to get something dialed in) and riding about 21.5mph. The more vert part is probably at ~75'-80'.

do you have any issues with the front ballast pushing the seats up?

Erik,
Just a little bit, but then the vent/overflow kicks in.

Paul,
Hey, I wanted to thank you for taking the time to make such a complete write-up of your ballast install. I used it as a guide for a similiar set-up on my VLX. Having your install info made the whole thing very easy. Thanks again.......

Very nice..

did you find the 120 lbs of lead in the front made a big difference in terms of the shape of the wake?

I'll second what tractor said....great inspiration. Helped me greatly when designing my ballast system.

The wake looks great Paul. Have you played with the surf wake yet?

Greg,
Yes. I had just the sac, then 60lbs in the very nose with the other 60lbs further back. When I moved all 120lbs to the very nose this spring and the wake firmed up nicely. I may look at getting some more lead to put just to the rear of the bow sac (in the storage area and forward of driver kick panel), but I'm not sure I need it right now.

Billy...yeah, I made the 1/4" Lexan sub cover. It looks OK when standing back from it. There is a MC sticker on it. It's frosted, reverse cut so it's on the backside (sub side).

Thanks,
Paul

Whoa...rapid fire responses...hard to keep up with!

Chris...thank you. Surf wake: Oddly enough, not too much. In fact, last August was the last time. I need to start throwing the board in for when the water is not good for boarding.
