Buddy of mine is looking at a '92 Ski Nautique and a '89 Supra TS6M.. which would be the better wakeboarding boat? The Supra is already set up with a tower and ballast while the nautique has run as a pure ski boat.
Sidetrack : The Nautique hull looks pretty v-shaped, i kinda thought flat hulls gave better wakes. Or...?
The hull is pretty flat until it gets to the center of the boat then it has a ridge in it. In your picture, look at the exhaust port on the back. In the middle of the port, you basically see a line. Also, look at where the reflection of the rudder starts. That is were the v ridge starts.
both would make good boats. it will come down to wake preference, but there's a lot of other issues to look at before i would let the wake style dictate my decision.
are both boats in good shape? mechanically sound? interior condition? hours?
Judging from the platform I'd guess the supra isn't running weighted in that pic. That TS6M has very little freeboard, which is why it's not considered a good candidate for a wakeboat. The Sunsport (or Saltaire (sp?)) would be better if you intend to run ballast.
The 90+ ski nautiques were excellent ski boats, but from what I've heard/read they don't put out a good wakeboarding wake no matter how much ballast you put in it. OK, but not great. The good early CCs to own for wakeboarding are the 1982-89 Ski Nautique 2001s or a Sport Nautique (93+).
As with any early inboard, check the stringers and floor for any signs of rot.
