Makeing your own tower speaker system

aright i know they make special speakers made to project the sound striaght back but has anyone out there went cheap and built there own speaker system for a tower out of components, im thinking about going with some JL audio components and putting together a 4 piece speaker system and putting it on my fly high pole, anyone have any comments on how component systems sound on a tower compared to stuff like wetsounds and NVS.

Do a search on this there is a few really good threads on building your own first class speakers for way less than the nvs's.
