POLK

Polk db650s are nice and cheap (also marine grade).

Crutchfield had them on scratch & dent for $50/pair last week. They can be found now for around $60/pair.

You can't beat the sound for that price.

I am going to third the polk DB 650's, I have 4 on my tower, and love them.

Hertz Hi-Energy's. Sound awsome and are very resonably priced.

I have the 6.5 Polk Momos currently in my 06 vlx. I had the Polk DBs on my last boat. Both are excellent speakers but the DBs are less expensive and really sound just as good as the momo's

crutchfield is selling the older model of polk db650's for 59 a pair... (still new) the newer model is still 99 a set. i heard them in the showroom and they sounded really clear at high volume. i'm putting an all new system in my boat this week and those are the speakers i got. they look good (imo) and fit perfectly in the stock locations. the only mod i've had to do so far is drill new holes to mount them. the kenwoods mounted with three, and the polks have four mounting holes.

i've seen the polk db's in several boats and they all sounded good. the momo's are good too, but much less sensitive, so you would need a bigger amp to get the same volume output.

I just bought four of the Polk db651's from Crutchfield. They had a special where you got the second pair for half price. I also had a $20 coupon code so the shipped price was $129. I added a cheap Profile 80W four channel amp to my factory Kenwood head unit to power them. It was a huge improvement.

Go with the JL Audio XR series. They ROCK! Not Marine rated though.

Bocephus,

I have the Wetsounds XS650. I haven't heard them yet since I'm out of town right now but the wife and friends says they sound great.

I know in my 05' VLX they had to cut away the fiberglass enclosures that the factory dash speakers sit in to install them due to the magnet being so big. They didn't have to do this for the ones on the side.

I think they look pretty good and match the style of the Wetsounds tower speakers really well.

Bocephus,

You'll be waiting awhile, like next season for my personal review of them. Bush & Company says I still have work to do before I can go wakeboarding again.
